Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Whats wrong with my wipers!?

Are you talking about the streaks?
Has there been any protection product been applied to the car?
I'd be getting out some windex and giving the outside a good clean. Quite possibly there's residue on the glass which is making the wipers not as effective.Last edited by tigger73; 05-10-2018, 09:30 AM.

I dont see the problem. The only issue i have with my wipers is that when set to auto they just seem to have no idea what so ever what they are doing (eg they go flat out when it is only sprinkling). Was the same with my 2x Golfs and now with the Audi.

Re smearing on OP's new GTI: looks like there is something on the glass or wiper blades to me. If I need to really clean my glass I apply (wet) Avon Metal Polish with a wet paper towel, and rinse off thoroughly (don't let it dry out at all).2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

I'd say you have something on the blades and/or windscreen, perhaps even in the washer fluid.
I start with the screen and blades. give them a good clean with auto glass cleaner, if that doesn't help move up to something like isopropyl alcohol, it'll cut through most greasy muck.
Other than that. at only 1.5 months, might be worth getting the dealer to have a look. Someone might have messed up your wash fluid. If so, let them flush it.2018 Golf GTI DSG (DAP LUX INFO R-TAILS)

Your not alone, I had this very issue with my 2015 MK7 it's a common enough issue.
I replaced my OEM blades with Bosh Aerotwins and can recommend them. Big improvement on the originals and still on the car.

6 weeks old will be a warranty issue. The screen probably needs a good clean and the wipers probably have a build up of gunk on the edge.

Whilst the oem are a blade design, the are not the same as the Bosch Aerotwins. The Bosch ones are quieter and fixed my smearing problem instantly. They have also lasted over 3 years on my car.

Hi Imolator (or anyone else)
Could somebody confirm the Bosch Aerotwin part number for the Mk7 rear wiper blade?
I still haven't replaced mine since it copped a direct hit in the hail storm last year.
Thanks in advance..
