  • International Autohaus Tune

    Hey guys,

I have just booked my car (MK7 2018 GTI) in for an ecu and tcu stage 1 tune at International Autohaus in Sydney. I have been following them on facebook for a while and the videos of the cars they tune are ridiculous. I am really excited as the price I was quoted for both tunes was very very reasonable and from a reputable business that excels in Euro cars.

Has anyone here had their car tuned there?

I haven't heard of them but also I'm not from Sydney either. By the looks of things they are a Mercedes/AMG tuning specialist.

You are right, but they also do Audis. Tbh I checked their reviews as well and noticed that they have all 5 star reviews with one 4 star review, so I figured can't be bad lol.

At the end of the day it's your car and you have to be comfortable with whichever workshop you get doing work on it whether tuning, servicing or changing tyres.

There's quite a few options for VW specialist tuners in Sydney. I'd at least take a look at them and compare some before/after dyno results for a Mk7.5 GTI.

International Autohaus are likely just installing the tune that their tuning partner (Evotech Motorsports) writes. Or Evotech may just buy their base tune files from elsewhere. If you look at the Evotech website they don't even list Mk7 Golf as an option for tuning so I would be a little concerned by this. It may be that their website needs updating or it may be that they just don't do that many VW's compared to the specialist VW tuning brands in Germany.

I'd be doing some more research and find out what results they have for your car.

That is great advice. I will do some research into some other tuners in Sydney.

If you can get before and after dyno for same car this should tell you a reasonable amount. Also best way to do comparison between different brands to see the % gain as some dynos will read higher and some lower than others so can be really hard to compare results between cars run on different dynos.

I’m not saying don’t go with these guys but do your research and make an informed choice.

Plus you’ll want to know if they are capable of writing the file for future upgrades - stage 2. Plus costs of the re-tunes as required as some places charge for this and others don’t.

I have heard they do good work. There are soo many options to choose from both in Sydney and Melbourne, no matter who I go with I will probably still end up with FOMO lol.

I have decided to go with a different tuner, as per your advice I did more research and found a place that has a great reputation and also power figures gained from this tune are higher than what I was quoted with IAH. The price for ECU tune is much more expensive and only $100 less than ECU and TCU tune price quoted by IAH, which I have to assume means better tune. Price isn't always the only factor, but its a pretty good indication. I will get the TCU tune in a month or so when I have more money as when I spoke with the tuner he said you do not have to do both at the same time but said it will definitely help with shifts and allow the power to be utilised better.

So who are you going with?

Did IAH used to be Tunehouse?

So got my car back from the tuner, and holy **** my car is ridiculous. Unfortunately, it's raining so can't go too hard, but even just in D mode and foot halfway down its soooo much faster.

Nice work. Pity about the weather. Next investment is some new front tyres with grip.
