Black Mirror Caps

Looking to replace my Mirror caps as they have scraps on them, not from me

They are currently the stock ones, painted white. Worth getting them professionally painted Piano black?

Or is there any good aftermarket ones that are good quality and not overpriced.

These look ok, just hard to tell how they are painted, as some are cheap plastic that scratches easy. Will want to polish and wax them.

We have both a Mk 7.5 Golf Highline (2017) and a Mk 2 Tiguan Highline (2017) in the family. In the Golf the amber Lane Assist warning is integrated into the glass of the mirror itself, and on the Tiguan it’s on the inside of the mirror housing. So no need for a cutout or opening, if these covers are for use on a newer Golf.

I do wish VW had an audio warning for the lane assist as well, like my previous A-class Merc did.

I'm pretty sure mine has screamed at me when I thought I was actually going to change lanes. If you just indicate it's visual.

Are you referring to the amber light when someone is in your blind spot? On the MK7 its on the mirrors glass itself.

I've just fitted a pair of these to my Wolfsburg wagon (I didn't particularly like the OEM carbonfibre caps it came with). These piano black ones are OK for the price, but don't expect perfection for that sort of money. I had to give the finish a mild polish to remove some marks in the paint and there was one minor defect in the paint job.

I had some trouble fitting the left hand one, it seemed that it didn't want to go on quite far enough for the inner top lug to click into place properly. I had noticed some excess flashing on the top edge so I trimmed it off before fitting, maybe I should have trimmed off a bit more.

Fitted these to my R, cost me $41 delivered .... perfect fit and looks good close up. You can go more expensive if you wanted, though I'd doubt it would look any better.

Sorry, I do have them but won't be selling them, if I ever sell the Wolfie I'm sure the buyer will be expecting the car to have them (they cost a crazy amount to buy as an OEM item from VW).

Not a problem. I’ve seen many people have problems with cheaper carbon fiber caps where the fibers separate from the top clear coat layer. It seems to be due to exposure to sunlight definitely not something you want. I might just go for the gloss black OEM ones on my white silver metallic mk7.5 R
