GTI gets stuck in Gear

Well fingers were crossed and things were going well then last night pulled up at some lights put it in first ready to set off then felt a little thud from the break and clutch pedals then vibrations through them and I can't get it out of first until I have set off. Only have a few weeks warranty left on this clutch so will see if I can get it replaced.

do not cheap out on the clutch....changes the whole dynamic of the car! Good luck with it

Fixed! Gear box came off as clutch was still under warranty. Clutch was good but fly wheel was shot. It had loads of movement and wobbled, the inner disk on the springs was lose. This was causing low rpm stumbles and a crap throttle response, almost like a misfire before power but not a misfire. Can't believe how the car feels now. Changing gear is smoother and throttle response is amazing. Symptoms started 2 years ago with the little misfire symptom when pressing the throttle and a faint low rpm stumble and a year ago it started getting stuck in gear when stopped. Annoying thing is I went to VW with the first symptoms when the car was still in warranty. So they either didn't know what was wrong as their excuse was "its a vacuum system" or they knew what was wrong but knew it would last me longer and get me out of warranty. Either way I've been driving a poor performing car for 2 years, wasted about $1000 on what it could of been and now $2000 for a fly wheel fitted and car is perfect except for the first 5 minutes while it warms up. It's expensive but when changing the clutch do the flywheel at the same time. Thanks for everyone's help. Now I know how the flywheel works the symptoms all make sense.

Do these run a concentric slave cylinder?

If so, I hope for your sake you had it replaced while the box was out.
