Just an update for anybody who's interested. I'm just trying to find as many symptoms as I can to go armed with to VW. Just noticed that it coughs and stumbles at around 1200 rpm with a engine rattle and when rev up it quite tens down and stumble stops. Just noticed that it will not hold 1400 rpm's. When you rev up it stumbles T it point and when you rev lightly further nothing happens until you get to a certain point and then it picked up and revs to the throttle position you are at. It's almost 1400 rpm is a flat spot. The same happens when you let off the throttle a little, rpm's drop slowly gets to 1400 rpm's themselves drops suddenly to 1200 rpm's and the noise starts and car stumbles. This is also noticed when driving, setting off slowly pushing past 1400 rpm nothing happens and then once you've pushed past this point it picked up.

Hold the revs at the point when you show them at the dealership, its pretty obvious, even if it didn't have a roughness there is a noise there that shouldn't be. I agree with "The One" above with regards to the goodwill, id be pulling on that for sure, it sells them cars in the long run

The plot thickens. Not at VW until Wednesday but just been playing and noticed that when sat still with the clutch pressed it coughs splutters and shakes and the engine rattles. When I let the clutch out and don't move the accelerator within 5 seconds the noise stops and the car is smooth again. This is all happening still between 1100 and 1400 rpm's. I still get the little stumbles at low rpm when driving and these are a lot worse when the oil temp is cold. I'm getting more and more confused, hope VW can make me happy.
If the problem is in the fuel system you might try adding some 2 stroke oil to the fuel tank next time you fill up.
Use a low ash or ash free version, FC or TC-W3, mineral or semi synthetic at 1:500. It will clean and lubricate the system and might solve the problem. Just add 100ml and fill up for a 50L tank.
People use it all the time at that ratio for petrol and 1:200 for diesels. Worth a try.
Just a quick update. VW diagnosed in 5 seconds. Intake manifold again. I'm 4 weeks out of warranty for this manifold but if I can find the invoice from when I first tried to get it diagnosed they will warranty it for me. Over a year with this issue but perhaps the noise wasn't there at the beginning, but the stumbling was. If they will do it under warranty I'm going to put in new injectors while it's off. I'll keep you all posted.
Found the invoices, now they are saying 1 year is too long to have these symptoms. I can't believe they are arguing over a couple of weeks. Anyway they have 2 invoices from dealers and one of them is theirs from when it first started and the other from a different dealer for a second opinion. Anyway our last conversation Goodwill was mentioned and they will get back to me tomorrow. Just when my faith was almost restored with VW. We will see.

If you have made a complain previously while car was still in warranty and they have the invoice then they have to goodwill it. I bet it's just the companies (not Volkswagen, remember all dealers are owned independently and are not related to Volkswagen so to speak) dumbass warranty clerk who sits in his cubicle all day long trying to decline as many 'goodwill/warranty' requests as he can so he doesn't have to do asmuch work.
Be onto them mate! Although can't say how I see a intake manifold can do this, unless the flaps are broken but then again a fault usually logs.... Odd. Don't know why you want to replace the injectors? Just have them cleaned if concerned and replace/make sure the injector seals are quoted/being replaced as they come out when the manifold does and FYI 9 times out of 10 the 'VW technician' drops the injector o rings and can't find them. = Another day waiting for parts..
Cheers mate I will be onto them. Jmac is also confused as to there being no fault code but when I showed them the shudder and noise they went straight to it, not sure what they did but they touched it pushed it pulled it or what ever and I'm sat in the car holding at the revs and it totally smoothed out. Strange. Yes canceled the injectors but will request they are resealed and cleaned if they can do that.

There's a control flap push rod thing to control the runners... Perhaps that keeps comming off? (weird but....). Any 'good' dealer will replace the injector seals, just make sure they do them, even if you have to pay for them (should be no more than $15...) because to replace them if they leak... You guessed it, manifold back off.
Update. I'll pay the 220 and they will fit new injected seals for nothing. Could of gone further and stood my ground but just so pleased I know what's wrong with it. My invoice from this first started was July 2013. The symptoms are in my other thread Low RPM stumble/misfire.
