  • Can you alter footwell light settings?

I know you can set the brightness but I'm wondering if you can set it so that with the doors open you get maximum brightness and then thereafter it goes to your normal brightness setting.

Has anyone every heard of that being possible?

I'm not aware of it being possible, and I doubt the module in the Mk6 supports it. You could try emailing Ross-tech; if anyone would know, they would.

While screwing with anything on the CANBUS often ends it tears, theoretically you could rig up a relay that picks up the signal from the door switch as a trigger that then feeds the footwell lights full power when it's activated (i.e. door open) then reverts back to the stock signal when the door is closed. As far as I am aware there is no bulb out error for these lights so it shouldn't trip any errors... but then like I said, screwing with the electrics isn't alway a good idea.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Whenever the doors r open on mine, the footwell lights r on at full brightness.
Close the doors, and the footwell lights dim, if the side/head lights r switched on.
Otherwise they turn off with the interior light.

I used vcds coding for a mk6 golf install.

If you set them at 100% brightness they should be at maximum when the doors are open.

From memory the only change you can make to the footwell lights is an LED option for the using vagcom but i will have to have a look when i get home
