I couldnt get my hands in there to save my life, so for anyone else in the same situation, do yourself a favour and remove the small plate/section at the top of the firewall. Theres a bolt on the drivers side and a nut on the passenger side, then the section of metal (about 15cm high x 90cm long) slides up and out.
With this part removed you have so much more access to the soundactor, and you can easily get our hands in there to unplug it.
Pics - just bear in mind that i removed the small section of firewall to get better access (takes 5 mins - refer instructions above).
Thats mine disconnected now. Its a lot quieter in the cabin now. If I want some noise from the engine/exhaust, I just wind down the window.
Also, I found it wasn't necessary to remove the plastic cover. I just undid the two 10mm bolts from either end of the black metal piece that runs along underneath it and there is room to lift to the plastic cover up and slide the black metal panel up and out. This then gives plenty of room to get your hands in and unplug the soundaktor and tie the plug to the existing wiring to stop it moving around.
It was only a 10 minute job, so no big deal if I need to re-connect for whatever reason.

That's great news on the speed of the disconnect. Has anyone actually wired in an on off switch. Interested in getting advice on the specific wires to run into the cab. I presume there is a switched +VE that I can check for ?
Waiting for my uber cheap switch to arrive and I'll do it all in one go

Once you disconnect it, you won't want it back again.

Thanks jords , easy as , much better , can hear that turbo singing , no way will I reconnect with that stupid resonating boom .
Pretty pricey. I got to PayPal check out on a cover and switch with postage was Aus $110. They look good but that's way to much for a switch.
I wonder if the cover will clip on to a factory switch and get one from the wreckers cheap?
