Wow! Such a difference, I can hear the turbo now! If you haven't done it already, go do it now.

So I removed the Soundaktor today....

Is it easy to do? I've seen a few "how to's " regarding the polo, but none for the golf. Any chance of a walk through on how to do it on the golf?

After a 28km drive without this P.O.S. connected , it will never be reconnected.
I can't believe they put this device in the car. The copit would have to be 60% quieter.
Rip it out or diconnect it people.....

Haha i remember doing this on my polo gti when i had it. It makes it much quieter when cruising plus when you have it in sports mode its i would agree about 60% quiter when its holding onto the rpm

If they were going to put an electronic transducer in they could have at least given us the option to make it sound like a Lamborghini V10

With any luck, not calling O'Brien (as I did last time I accessed that part of the car)

I couldnt get my hands in there to save my life, so for anyone else in the same situation, do yourself a favour and remove the small plate/section at the top of the firewall. Theres a bolt on the drivers side and a nut on the passenger side, then the section of metal (about 15cm high x 90cm long) slides up and out.

With this part removed you have so much more access to the soundactor, and you can easily get our hands in there to unplug it.

Pics - just bear in mind that i removed the small section of firewall to get better access (takes 5 mins - refer instructions above).

"Soundaktor" atrificial sound and what i found

I just lifted the plastic up enough to get a long screw driver in, released the grey lock on the plug and flicked the plug off...
Took about 3 minutes. .... will get n there and tidy up the wire oneday.
