  • Golf R diff noise

Sorry if this has been covered, I searched without a result.

We have a new Golf R (DSG) and I have noticed at 80km/h I can hear the rear diff, it is quite loud, I assume it is diff and not road noise from tyres. Has anyone else encountered this ? my EVO IX race car makes less diff noise so not really happy.

    Golf R diff noise

I've noticed the same mate. Have done some reading recently and apparently the haldex is not the quietest thing around. I notice it most while at that speed or above and just feathering throttle to maintain speed or easing off. If I accelerate, no noises. It does piss me off on long drives but I'm not overly concerned. I had an S2000 that was noisy but nothing compared to my R.

I don't think it's anything to be concerned about

    Couple links...

Thanks for that, good to know I haven't bought a Friday car, will try the acceleration trick.

The car is my wife's and she hasn't noticed it, always has the stereo up so all is good I guess.

Worthy feedback; I had this noise when the car was minty new. My R has just passed 2000km and the noise is not even noticeable anymore.

I had the very same thing with the Tiguan and it's just passed 2000km and I can attest it's also gone. Stress less.
