Rattling / Squeaky sunroof

Hi all,

has anyone experienced rattles and squeaks from their sunroof, mainly when slid or tilted open ?

happy to read any fixes, otherwise its a trip to the dealer for a warranty issue.

Hi - yep my sunroof rattles a bit when tilted. Its annoying at times and ive taken it back to the dealership once to get "looked at" - but its still the same.

Same - squeak on bumps - dealer tried and failed. Worryingly when it was new some foam/rubber fell out one day. Showed the dealer - no idea. They regreased it all but not fixed. It's my only squeak - golf r

If anyone out there has a drawing / install / removal instructions of the sunroof on the Mk6 Golf, posting them here would be much appreciated.................probably quicker and less hassel having a go myself than dropping car off to dealer.

I imagine this info would be available on the factory workshop manual, if anyone out there is fortunate to have access to one !!

I thought it was in my head!! I have an Mk6 Jetta with sunroof and i've been hearing rattling sound behind my head.. eventually discovered that it was coming from my sunroof.. sounds like a rod hitting on something.. Anyone managed to get this fixed?

Had that same issue in my NK6 GTI. Dealer said it was incorrectly installed. Apparently very sensitive to the abgle of install. They recalibrated the sunroff and now all good.

Sounds like newone is onto the problem. I am interested to see as i have had the issue only intermittently and on really bad road surfaces. Most of the time it is silent. Only happens in tilt mode for me.

Yeah it only happened in tilt mode and when going over rough roads. And in Sydney where I am all the roads are cr@p.
Barloworld five dock. The service advisors name is Daniel Peck. He knew exactly what needed to be done.
Good luck. It was annoying but now all good.

I should mention, that once the rattle is fixed, there will be some squeeking for about a month. Its due to the felt trim around the sunroof rubbing against the paintwork which was not in contact when improperly installed in the first place. over about a month (open and close as often as you can) the sunroof will "bed" in to its correct position. Hope that helps.

I have a 2015 GTi with 4500 miles. After 2 months the glass in the sunroof started squeaking/creaking like a haunted house. Car has been back to dealer service several times. THey have made adjustments but they don't last and noise comes back. Has anyone else encountered thius? If so any luck getting it fixed? THere is no squeaking when the sunroof is open. Only when it's closed. THank you.
