Golf R flutter or compressor surge (vids included)
The Carbonio isn't really an intake, the stock air box assembly has baffles etc in it to help reduce the noise coming back through the system from the BOV/diverter valve etc, wacking on a pretty carbon piece to the front of it really isn't doing much (compared to complete replacement of the system with VWR/etc). So it may have been there but hidden away a bit (as Candyman says, under the right conditions he can get his stocker to do it, I guess the sound is just a bit more subtle with the stock air-box/filter assembly vs the complete intake replacement).
I'm not quite sure what you mean? The carbonio is a complete replacement for the intake system. Stage 1 is a new airbox with a pod filters, stage 2 adds a carbon fibre pipe from said airbox to turbo outlet.
The R uses the engine cover as an airbox, so the Carbonio is just a fancy new snorkel piece to the existing airbox(stage 2 I think does rid the engine cover entirely and so is as you have described).
Ah right, my bad. I have the stage 2 intake system on my GTI which makes the turbo induction noise and blow-off/compressor flutter pretty loud compared to stock, which has made the apparent wastegate leak or whatever it is considerably louder
