Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

    Mk6 GTI Does this sound normal?

    Hi guys,

    I'm after some confirmation that my Mk6 GTI (DSG) sounds normal.

    Bought the car roughly 6 months ago with 40k on it, I've always noticed this whining noise in and out of gear.

    Can anyone else with a mk6 confirm that this engine sounds normal?

      Hard to tell from the audio on the video. Sounds ok from what i can hear - but the audio isnt great. If it doesnt sound right to you then i would suggest taking it to a dealership and getting them to check it.

      Water pump failures seem to be quite common on the GTI's and result in a whining/squeaking noise - so it might be better to check and be safe than sorry.
