1st paragraph explains the point of the thread. People researching the purchase of a car often jump on forums. So, rather than posts listing issues, this post is to gain an insight into the number of owners that haven't had any issues and are happy with their purchase.

Personally, if I was purchasing a vehicle I knew nothing about, I would want information on the potential issues and not what's not going wrong? I think it's pretty clear (to me) through all the other threads that generally people thoroughly enjoying their VW/Skoda's and would recommend them to anyone! But if people are benefiting from this thread then that's great! Just doesn't make sense to ME....GOLF R Stage 2+

After being on the forums for a while you start to think that *everyone* is having issues, so it's great to see the number of positive posts. Just trying something different for once - the thread will probably be buried by next week once all the regular members have posted.

I think this thread is great! All we ever see on the forums is whinging / whining people that have problems with their Golfs. Sure, I feel for them but in perspective they'd be in the lower 2 percent of happy Golf owners. Lets promote the product, as we all know it is a superior car in its class. Let the masses know THIS is the car to own and aspire to!
End of lesson,
Brian

I don't have bluetooth
I'm getting excellent fuel economy
I'm driving a German engineered car that very much feels up market, without having paid a premium price.
To sum it up:
The car is great, absolutely love it. Even though I don't have a sports model like the GTI or R, every time I go for a drive it genuinely brings a smile to my face.. Can't explain why.. Maybe has to do with the fact that my last car was pretty s*** (Honda. lol. Never again..)
For what I need a car for, the Golf has delivered in every way, plus more.90 TSI 1.4T

No mechanical issues in my Golf R, but ive had a few niggling (annoying) issues:
1) Tweeter in rear door was crackling from day 1. Noticed it within a few minutes from leaving the dealership. Replaced by dealer at 1,000km check. Ok since then.
2) Alarm going off on its own / randomly. Several visits to the dealership to get this fixed. Seems to be ok now.
3) Sunroof rattling when tilted open. Looked at under warranty. Sound is less noticeable now but still there.
4) Wrong headlight switch fitted to my car (no chrome part on it).
I will have a bitch about how utterly useless Kloster VW is though. They were fine during the purchasing portion of the deal - but totally useless after sale. I keep my car immaculate, and each time its gone in for the above listed warranty fixes it comes back full of greasy handprints / muck on the floormats etc. Also, having to book the car in 2-3 weeks in advance just for a warranty job is ridiculous.
Its 1st service is due early April, and no letter / phone call etc from VW with details on making a booking.
