Nah, same can be heard on a tuned R. Thought only mine sounded like that till I heard other R's both stock and tuned at idle.

That's the direct injection you can hear - particularly noticeable ticking noise at idle.

A few people have commented over the years that our Mk5 GTI sounds like a diesel, particularly at start up, so don't stress that your Mk6 sounds similar.
