Hey guys. I have purchased 5 new cars in my short 22 years of life and this Golf R is going to be the 6th. Each of my previous cars (4 Subaru and 1 VW) have all needed to be ordered in as I decided on them at release time so I had to go through the waiting for build time and that painful wait time it sits on the boat. Obviously I expected the 6 month wait time but now the car is close I am fairly keen. The issue I am having is and want to know if it is normal, I have tracked the boat with the car in it and it landed in Brisbane on the 15/8/11. According to the NADCON timeline the boat was supposed to arrive on the 14/8/11 and be delivered to customer (not sure if that means me or the dealer) on the 20/8/11. Here I am at the 26/8/11 and my dealer says they still have no idea when the car is supposed to arrive, best they have is "we hope to still deliver by the end of the month". What confuses me is I have had all my previous cars delivered to me within 8 days of the boat landing in NSW and I was living in Adelaide at the time. This car let the boat in Brisbane and I am in Brisbane. Should I be concerned that I am not getting the whole story or is the time at the docks normal these days or is it maybe just Brisbane. Sorry if this feels like a bit of a rant, but I feel the dealer leaves me in the dark more often than not.

Up to 2 weeks is normal.
Any more than that and maybe start asking why.

My car took 3.5 weeks form landing to me picking it up.
all depends on the load of work customs have to do and if there was any issue they have been notified about.

My R took four weeks from the docks into the dealers hands, yet another R on the same boat took only 2 weeks till delivery. I asked my dealer to get updated info from VW as to the status (which they did). Holdup was due to Patricks.Golf R 5 Door DSG, Rising Blue, 19" Wheels (Silver), Leather, MDI, RVC, Bluetooth, RNS510, APR Stage 2, APR Divorced DP, APR HPFP, VW Racing CAI, S2T Paddle Shifters, Sprint Booster

hahaha. No mining and no daddy cash except for the first car. Just got married young and we both have decent incomes and she loves cars as much as I do. Plus when you change car each year you don't lose a lot on resale. But thanks klink I might push on the dealer a bit more, don't think they can keep pulling the we have no idea card.
