      Ahahahahahah,

Oh wait, that may actually be true

On the issue of quattro motors, do they have the computer equipment to do the firmware upgrades?

        Yeah, it's dead true...
About the only thing you can do is see which places get the most amount of positive feedback and the least amount of negative feedback...

I had my 7500km service done at Peter's Master Motor Mechanics in Rockingham, he's on the same road where I work. He has diagnostics equipment for the Golf and was very particular about buying the right oil. He wasn't cheap though, he charged around $395 if I recall.

For the 15,000km service I went to VW Wangara, I had some minor issues that I wanted fixing under warranty (creaking door catch, panel under the gearshift console that had worked loose). Again, not cheap, around $400 for the service I think. I should point out that I live in Como and work in Rockingham, so going to Wangara for servicing is something of an inconvenience, although I've never had anything but a good rapport with Tash in the service department.

Some months after the 15k service I had a leaking gas strut in the tailgate that was replaced under warranty (they replaced them both) and that took all of 20 minutes, kudos to them for that.

The closest VW dealership to me is JH in Vic Park, but Quattro Motors is also in Vic Park, so I may go there or I may go back to Peter Erlemeyer in Rockingham. I have around 3000km or so to make up my mind before I'm due for my 30,000km service. I'll find out from Peter how much the 30,000km service is likely to cost.

I noticed the new Melville VW dealership is open now - does anyone know what their service dept is like?

If in fact it even has one?

He doesn't say that they forced him to do the service, I get the impression that he choose to get a 6 month oil change performed (although it sounds as they performed the same work that they do in the 12 month service) and there is no justification to say that Wangara ripped him off with an unnecessary service

Actually if you're going to go all legal you could at least use the correct terminology otherwise your lawyer won't know what you're talking about when you call him. Libel is a written statement, Slander is a spoken statement (generally transitory).

As for the vehicle damage you should have the car checked when you drop it in for a service and if the dealer won't check it take photos of the car then there is no argument about responsibility for damage. The problem is that the dealer doesn't know if your car had that damage or not before you dropped it in and it's easy enough for someone to not notice some damage and only notice it after the service when the car has been washed and blame the service centre.

Not saying what you said isn't true (I don't want to be sued ) but likewise the dealer could sue you for making libellous comments such as "they're getting too many calls from customers with similar complaints" and "extensive damage done to their car" along with a number of others.

I suspect I'd know if my car was damaged beforehand...

But hey - thanks for the useless legal advice - I'll send you an equally useless cheque for same.

Unless you do a walk around of your car every time you get back in it you're not going to notice if someone has scraped your bumper or dented your door say the day before you drop it in to get serviced.

Little wonder why some people go through life having problem after problem.....

thanks Mav...was gonna type the same thing.

Oh...and Christian. Tell your people to get ready for a phone call from my people re the dipsh*t comment. Pot/kettle much?

Thanks for declaring your 'interest/experience'. Mine is the same. I have had bad experiences with Osborne Park and Wangara. On each occasion, I advised them of the issue, and on each occasion a solution was agreed to. Although, with Wangara, it took nearly 12 months to resolve.

Also, I have experienced the fantastic work provided by Golfwagen, and in a recent discussion with Joe, he was quick to point out that his pricing for a standard service of the R32 would not undercut the dealerships price.

How about everyone just stop with the personal insults and the useless legal talk. Infractions pending for those who want to keep going...

Maverick's assumption is correct: I chose to have a 6 month service at Wangara VW, mainly because I like my car ( heaps!) and also because I had a couple of niggling issues that I wanted fixed under warranty.

I had bought the Golf elsewhere, but was influenced by Dermot who works there and posts on this forum... and he seems like a alright bloke.

They were great, addressed my concerns and fixed the problems, none of them major. That's why I wanted to go back there for the 12 month service. However they seem rather busy now hand haven't returned two calls in order to discuss a price.... and as it is cheaper elsewhere, I'll try another place.

Thanks for all the comments. I will try Golfwagen or Quattro... Rockingham is a bit too far for me!

I was told that the servicing dept will be moved to the new premises, however, no way i'll be going back there.

I'm taking my car to Melville VW tomorrow for warranty repair. I'll let you know how good or bad they are.

But from first impressions when I booked it in 3 days ago I reckon I could be getting the car back still with a fault, but I could be surprised.
