    Really!??? $1K and $350 - bargain!
I was quoted: for $800 it was just the rear sensors (with beeps only - no integration to RNS), fitted and painted to match car colour. Too much?
Wouldn't mind more info... if you have any more.
Also if anyone in Canberra that would do it?

    • Heaps of threads here regarding the rns 510 from eBay. Essentially refurbed units but r brand new. Latest maps, latest screens. Costs about $1000ish landed. Most come from Europe.
U can sell ur rcd unit here, might take some work but u should easily find a base golf owner that wants to upgrade their rcd 310 and if u price attractively ~$250-300 then it should sell no hassle

Rear ops unit from eBay, what I have costs about $350, install is another matter. I got mine done with Derek at ea. I can't see jack reversing that's why I got it. Didn't want to get the rvc as it was about $1200.
The unit u got quoted undoubtedly will be a basic audio unit that most straithfield or audio shops could install for about $300. Just FYI, audio parking sensors although helpful r nowhere near as good as visual ones, whether it's coupled with a rvc or some form of visual marker

      • Thanks walbjj. I spoke to Derek and he said he can do all/any of (brand new , genuine VW, with warranty) RVC, OPS, RNS!
Just getting to SYD is now the issue. I will see if I can tee something up.

        • How much does it cost? I'm assuming we get them plus install from Derek and not source it ourselves from eBay.

          And whose Derek?

            • Derek has the oem parts in stock. However, I was the guinea pig for the ops as he never installed one before mine. I just rocked up with the parts and asked if he could install. He said he would give it a crack. It was a mission. Search my threads for the full story.

              • Brilliant. Thanks. That's good news if I don't want to wait for a special order.

                • U pay a slight premium for retrofitting due to the labour component but then again u don't have to wait months for specific orders

                    • With regards to fitting and sourcing:
                      1) is really plug and play? Apart from coding? I.e no fiddling required if genuine VW?
                      2) does it matter what version I get C/D/F etc?
                      3) Would this do the trick: BRAND NEW OEM VW RNS 510 SAT NAV MFD3 RNS510 Version F LED V7 Golf Passat Jetta | eBay

                      • Rns is pretty much pnp, just need the torx tools to remove hu. Minor coding needed. That eBay one seems fine. Plenty of threads about who to buy off
Ops however is NOT pnp. Need specific knowledge and tools

Very impressed with the car, goes very well! (to put it mildly) - picked up yesterday.
Was happy with the Lennock experience (in the end) too.

I want to swap the RCD510 unit for a Nav one, I was quoted around $3500 (estimate) for this? Any idea how much I can sell the current one for and where? Will do it if the "changeover" is a bit better than $3500.

Also thinking of getting park sensors as well - estimated at around $800 - thoughts?

Thanks mate... loving it and finding excuses to take it for a drive any opportunity I get!
(Damn rain in Canberra yesterday means it is not looking as nice as it did a few days ago in those photos already!)

                            • Yes that is the problem with these cars, you want to be in them all the time and rack up the kays and fuel bill
