45,000KM Servicing Costs (Melbourne) Dealers + Independents [MAY 2011]

Hey guys,

My MKV GTI is up for its 45,000km service so I thought I would call around and find out the price for a service. I assume MK6 prices would be very close or similar, so I thought I would share this.

All these prices are quoted without asking for a "better deal". They are outright quotes over the phone.

The price disparity between the independents is quite interesting.

But can it really be the same job if someone can charge more than double - $220 to $515? Volkscare looks too cheap as if they got the wrong service and South Yarra just looks like they are taking the p*ss?

It's the same job. I confirmed with Volkscare and I spoke to the owner.
The 45,000km is just a basic service. Oil and checks basically.

Optical Park Installer Melbourne

Hi all,

About to take delivery of a MK6 GTi to which I wish to have the Optical Parking System installed.

Can anyone recommend an installer in Melbourne, I don't like the idea of drilling holes into the bumpers and pulling interior and cabling apart.

Hey mate. You may find it strange that I merged your question with this thread, but in all seriousness, if we exclude the "generics" such as JB Hifi and other car electronics installers, the answer to your question is the same as "where do I get my car serviced".

You either get your dealer or one of the other dealers to do this, or you get an independent Volkswagen specialist. Cheers.

I did enquire at Volkspower but they weren't very keen and said it would cost a lot because of the labour involved. didn't end up getting a quote. I was also worried about squeaks and creaks occurring after the trim has been pulled apart!

I just booked the 45,000km service for my Golf 103TDI at VW South Yarra and was quoted $550. I then saw this thread so I decided to call VW Deer Park and they quoted $431.08 so I called South Yarra back and I'm waiting for the manager to get back to me regarding a price match.

I'm amazed at how much prices vary between dealers.

45K is not just a basic service. There's an air filter to be replaced
