  • Seeking advice - entering my R into eigth mile RevFest

    Hello fellow Golfers

I have entered my R into a RevFest over the May Day weekend out here in the West. The only fuel we have here is Premium 95 Octane. Do you think that by adding in some Wynns Octane boost try to achieve as close as I can to 98 octane, that should do the trick? Or will I just be happy with 95 octane?

The weekend will be around the 30 degrees and with the dry air it will be interesting what numbers I get. I will post photos and numbers after the weekend. I measured a rough 200 mtrs and got between 8.8 to 9.5 seconds with my son doing the timing.

Anyway, it will be a good weekend and I have my VW shirts and cap on hand and will be flying the VW flag for us all out in the Outback.

    Cheers

Barcaldine Rev Fest 2011 - Outback Queensland, Australia

Entered in the "Mild" Class - eighth mile track

      TIMES:
      RUN 1 - Trial: Time: 9.59am, Tree Speed: 0.400, Dial-In: trial, Reaction: 0.597 sec, 60ft: 2.056, Speed: 85.23mph/137.16kmh, ET: 8.963

      RUN 2 - Trial: Time: 12.43pm, Tree Speed: 0.400, Dial-In: trial, Reaction: 0.533 sec, 60ft: 0.000, Speed: 84.11mph/135.36, ET: 9.169

      RUN 2 - Qual: Time: 3.02pm, Tree Speed: 0.400, Dial-In: 9.0sec, Reaction: 0.472 sec, 60ft: 2.000, Speed: 85.55mph/137.68kph, ET: 8.927 breakout

      RUN 3 - Qual: Time: 4.36pm, Tree Speed: 0.400, Dial-In: 8.9sec, Reaction: 0.918 sec, 60ft: 2.119, Speed: 87.04mph/140.08kpm, ET: 8.952 win

      RUN 4 - Qual: Time: 5.46pm, Tree Speed: 0.400, Dial-In: 8.9sec, Reaction: 0.373 sec, 60ft: 2.135, Speed: 85.07, ET: 9.146 red

1 win, 1 breakout and one red light. Not bad for my first go. I will add that the Beastie turned a few heads with its time and speed . The 3 runs where against a new black Subaru Forester turbo. He was an old bloke like me and we lead the class onto the track. Having two all wheel drives up against each other was good choice - no burnouts LOL. He dialed in a 9.4 sec, so keeping cool on the line eventually gave way on the last run. His first 2 runs he was going from 2nd to 5th and I would blow him away. The last run he got 3rd and gave the little beastie a run, but we still won by 0.070 seconds. It was funny how none of the V8 lads wanted to challenge us old boys with our all wheel drive turbo rockets .

Great day and the VW flag flew high and proud

Lol.... I am wondering whether SilvrFoxX was meaning to "mask" the plates in the pictures as you have just done, or whether to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE ACTUAL PLATES because they're fugly! White & Brown standard plates = ewww. Add to that the "stock OEM holder" which doesn't match the size of those ewww plates = fugly! Do something nice with your plates

Hee hee Corey_R. Nah, that is me mate, just get it off the shelf and that will do. That's what surprised a lot of spectators and racers on the weekend. They all thought I had spent some hard earned and upgraded the Beastie and were very impressed when I told them it was how it came from VW. Perhaps I will get a little adventurous later this year, but I should really be saving up to restore the 94 VR6 in my garage. It needs new paint, clutch, brakes, wheels, tyres etc etc badly... one day - one day
