First Service 1yr GTI

OK just got my MkVI GTI full serviced at the 1 yr mark. All's well. Brakes in excellent condition, wheel balance, all computer diagnostics good to go. Price, circa $300. That's incredible value (my last accord euro cost a whopping $1000) for the 1 yr service.

did you change the engine oil mid year? some dealers are recommending a mid year service to change the oil.

Yes, that is a good price. Up here in Sydney, some dealers are charging $430.

How many Kilometres have you done? Do you mainly do city driving or the free/highway or mixed?

Mixed driving. Have gone out on 300km return trips to holIDAY AREAS about 5-7 times. Done 13,000km so far.

No didn't but I doubt its necessary unless you take it on track frequently.

Funnily enough today I also did my 1YR full service on my GTI. The only thing they pulled me up on was the amount of tread left on the front two tyres. Hahah I know where that rubber went They rotated em to the back. The whole service was also just a shy over 300 as well (serviced at Coffs Harbour - Geoff King VW).

Now to find some good tyres for the 17inch denvers.

First Service MK6 GTI

My car is coming up for its first service and called up Barloworld for booking and was advised of $435 with no loan car. I called up Paul Wakeling in Campbeltown out of curiosity(its near my work) and was quoted $280.

Is Paul Wakeling recommended or should i go to Barloworld, any major difference between these two.

Something i would like to know on this subject is which sydney dealers DO offer a loan car?

i have recently gone back to being a single car family and would struggle without a car...

I know that Denlo at Parramatta have a few loan cars... but they're limited so you have to book weeks, sometimes months, in advance.
They also offer a courtesy pickup/drop off to the Parramatta area, including the train station.
And also free wireless internet so you could actually telecommute whilst waiting for the car to be serviced.

I'm sure several other dealers are also setup in this manner - you just have to ring around and ask....
