  • MK6 Wear and Tear

I'm starting this thread to see how the little bits in the car is holding up.
I have covered about 10000k's in the four months ive had the car and am pretty impressed thus far.
However, I am a little disappointed in my seat quality as on the right side bolster of my drivers seat the fabric is starting to fray and lift off the seat.
I've tried fixing it but no dice. so off to the dealer on friday.
So what else (if anything) have you guys noticed about your Mk6's quality or lack there of?
    I'd be interested to know.
    Thanks

This is Google translated website with some comments about most common problems (solutions), service actions... - one of them is Golf MK6 Seats (I think it is 90 TSI):

      Thanks mate.
It's good to know that they should fix my seat.
Would make me very happy if they do.

My only issue with my MK6 GTI with 14,000 KM is the 'creaking' which seems to be coming from the B pillar.

It's only ever heard when turning into driveways but it ****s me. Sounds like the plastic fittings warping/rubbing against the shell.

I also had the 'creaking B-Pillar', however it transpired in my case it was the door hinges that needed re-greasing, this was attended to at the 15,000km service.

As of March 2011, my 103TDI is now 13 months old with over 20,000km on the odometer, the LH gas strut in the tailgate is weeping fluid, the tailgate now doesn't fully open unless I manually push it all the way. I've banged my head on the half-open tailgate a couple of times which doesn't please me.

My car is also suffering from this issue. It's only 9 months old with 5600Km and the seat is wearing! Hate to see what it will be like in 3 years. Be interesting to see if VW will do anything about it. Apart from the seat and the few rattles it's going good. But mine is still only a baby, Time will tell.

Wow, this is funny... I only this week noticed my B pillar creaking over driveways...15 months, bout 9000 km.

Had the Eibach prokit installed 3-4 weeks ago, not sure if that would be the cause.....

My kids like to play with the rear cup holder, it is easy to dislodge the face plate for it. Other than that, the only area I'm worried about wear is the tyres....

+1 on the worries about the seats.. I don't drive a huge amount in my R and I'm always careful getting in and out not to crush the seats as I get in, but I can see they're going to wear fast. I treat them regularly too. Going for a drive with a mate in an R32 this weekend, will be interesting to compare them side by side.

Just clocked up 13,000km on the ODO and the main issue is a creaking rear brake/spring/suspension. Bloody annoying when I park it and get in or out of the car it sounds like some jeep from the 60s LOL. Its coming up for the 15000km service.

I have that exact noise, from the right rear...... very annoying.

Mine only started about the 20000km mark, but noticeable warm or cold, getting in and out.

My seats are fine, no markings or wear showing after 25000km.

Yeah my seats are fine too but I literally lift myself in and out of the seat using the door sill.

So my ass doesnt touch the bolster at all getting in and out.

+1 - it doesn't matter how tough the cloth or leather is covering the bolster, if you just slide your butt over it day in day out, the bolster gets deformed and stuff anyway. So either way, you need to lift yourself out to keep it in good condition.

I actually do that same motion of kiting myself out. It's simply from the thigh ushing up against it while driving that's caused it.
Either way, I don't think it's good enough that a 4 month old seat is fraying the way it is. I understand these things happen but I hope that be do fix it. It's just dissapointing when I take as much care as possible and it still happens.

It kinda looks like I am hoping in and out of an F1 car lol. I just have to be careful of rivets etc in my jeans not scratching my steering wheel. And when I say my seats are fine I meant literally. Other than a little 'shine' from oils in my jeans etc, there are zero creases, scratches or fraying of stitching.
