I also had the 'creaking B-Pillar', however it transpired in my case it was the door hinges that needed re-greasing, this was attended to at the 15,000km service.
As of March 2011, my 103TDI is now 13 months old with over 20,000km on the odometer, the LH gas strut in the tailgate is weeping fluid, the tailgate now doesn't fully open unless I manually push it all the way. I've banged my head on the half-open tailgate a couple of times which doesn't please me.
I get the creaky B pillar too it's more noticable on driveways as well, sometimes have a rattle somewhere from the LH rear area?? though this is only on smooth bad roads where you can't hear the tyre rumble!
Everytime I give the car a shake it makes this clicking noise. The car's done 12500km.
My wife's Jetta does the same thing. Shake the car and hear a clicking noise coming from the rear brake assembly. Strange.
Haven't noticed it on the mk6.
No worries, incidentally I took the Golf from Rockingham (where I work) to Wangarra yesterday, that was fun on a Friday afternoon. They are going to replace both of the gas struts in the tailgate, apparently they've never seen leaking gas struts on a Golf.
18,500 KM (Since October 09) and only problems to report are the annoying b-pillar noise and the fact that the AUX plug decided to fall inside the centre console which will need to be replaced next service (dont really use it anyway but good to fix it for the next owner)
17,500 km on a bog standard 118TSI since Feb 2010. Only a few minor niggles (wiper shudder, squeak in front swaybar bushing, HVAC recirc flap needed a recal to fully seal, transmission park lock cable rattling the heat shield) half of which the dealer fixed and the other half I fixed.
The interior is holding up OK, but it hasn't had kids climbing in and out in and out like previous cars so time will tell.
Quality control doesn't appear to be up to the standard of previous Jap cars I've owned, but the engineering continues to impress in numerous ways - performance, economy (<6.3 l/100km avg), NVH, high speed stability, ergonomics, etc.
The only service was about average compared to previous experiences - ie, master mechanics rates charged for apprentice product knowledge.
Would still buy one if I had to make the decision again.

Ok, I have to decide whether to wait for a Polo GTi or just take delivery of the Golf GTi that they have on the floor - Addidas edition so it has Xenon's, Bluetooth, 18 (or is it 19?) wheels, MDI and this one also has the park assits/auto park option.
So, I notice there's not much by way of a sticky for common faults with GTi's, or Golf in general.
Now, there seems to be discussion about the DSG (standard on the Addidas), and I'm aware that there is a love it/hate it thing, and there are some problems some time with it.
Also seem to be some common rattles mentioned.
So. What else should I know about before I sign my life away?
Candy White Golf GTI Adidas with Park Assist and Reversing Camera

Brian916 the White Adidas that you are talking about has 18 inch Serron wheels
Current: 2007 Black Golf TDI, 2011 CW Tiguan 125TSI - DSG - MDI - bluetooth - fogs - tow bar
Finally at Home - Candy White 2011 GTI - DSG - park assist - bluetooth - MDI - cloth
Mate you could fix this with a simple glass clean/polish.
AFAIK the shuddering is because of dirt on the windscreen or an oil build up causing a higher friction b/w the wiper and windscreen therefore causing it to stall and shudder.
Try some Duragloss Nu-glass polish or go one better and get the Nanolex glass sealant kit off CCP and the wipers will wipe cleanly with regular cleaning.
