So far as I can recall most of my VW's have exhibited this behaviour. Several Falcons and Commodores I drove for work did too.
The water would still drain when the door was shut, it just comes out faster when the door is opened.
Sometimes the angle the car is parked on had and impact.
It's not something that would particularly bother me, unless of course the water entered the cabin.
