I ordered mine on the 1st of July and I just picked it up today
Very very happy with the car.
As for being a young pubescent 25 year old...i'm far from it. I've owned many cars over the past 7 years and have done many driving courses as well as competing in many drift and track events. This is my first AWD though...and i like it!
I bought the car from VW in Werribee...I work at Nissan and VW is one of our franchises that we own so I got to buy the car at cost
If anyone is wanting to buy a VW please feel free to contact me and I can refer you to someone who can look after you.

looking at the results, pretty even spread over the age count.
But really, every age bracket has a reason to buy a Golf R. If you are in your 20s, you probably haven't bought your house yet, therefore have spare cash, if you are in your 30s, probably have a mortgage, yet relatively successful enough to easily purchase a R, as for above 40, i think most people can afford a R.
A 60k car is not that hard to finance either, people earning a salary of 60k+ can afford that.
The Golf R can be expensive to some and can be cheap to some.

25 for me (sorry for the bump, a bit bored)
I'll be 26, maybe 27 by the time it gets here though.
Born with a silver spoon? Yeah, not quite. Poor family, bad school, went to uni, worked full time in a series of crappy jobs to survive (washing dishes etc), got a student position, worked full time whilst studying full time in my chosen profession (Planning) and am now employed at a good wage where doing a novated lease makes sense from a tax perspective.
Hardly unusual. And hardly worth any grief.Audi S3. Sold
Golf R. Sold
Citroen DS3 Dsport. Sold

25, self-employed and worked my ass off for the last few years so I can do things like pay $65K cash for a car I want. My mate is in exactly the same situation as me but only 23 and I think I've turned him to the idea of buying an R as well. Not everyone that can afford a decent performace car is either middle-aged or been given everything for free.Golf R ordered, here before I go old and grey: Expected delivery in August. Maybe.

I just commented something like this in another thread.
It's funny at uni how high all the young kids see up the professional/and office jobs, but will snicker at a plumber/or sparky.. Who earns $350 a call out mind you. Which they might get 4-6+ a day, as many days a week as they want to earn. You could own your own house by 45. And live well.
Not everyone went to uni for 3+ years.. Losing the ability to earn money and incurring a $20k debt in the process. Then getting the CA Or CPA job on 40k for 3 years before they finally cracking $60-80k.
My mate just works at a call centre, and he cranks 105k. He lives outta home and is buying his second house soon. Ghats why they say , love what you do..another mate of mine, uneducated, works channel 10 and cracked the $100k.
I'm just saying it can happen, and if your good you can do it in many different jobs.2010 MY11 GOLF R - 5DR | DSG | RISING BLUE | DYNAUDIO + ACC + BLUETOOTH + 19s + RNS510 |
