What Accessories are you buying for your MK6 Golf?

Before you install it, you should modify it with a Hitachi Endurastar J4K100 100GB HDD. ~10GB for maps, which will leave you ~83GB for MP3s (after you account for the fact that 100GB drives are only 93GB when you go from "marketing GB" to actual GB/GiB). I'd love to do that to my RNS-510, apart from the difficulty of finding reasonably priced sources of that drive which can be bought in quantities of less than 20!

Went for the Version C LED with the star button, apparently should also have the newest V3 maps.

if you search by the part no at ECS tuning, it should come up. but when you add the shipping cost, it's only 10-20% off the RRP here.

Sure, go to any car surface specialist, or even car graphics specialist, who can supply and fit Ventureshield Stonegard, or 3M Paint Protection Film (PPF), and get them to cover the door sills for you.

Looking into this a bit further after you post... sounds like a bit of a nightmare, plus, the RNS partitions it 1/3rd & 2/3rds for the maps/music respectively, so a 100GB drive will give you 66GB for music. how to install SSD on RNS 510

If you could put like a 500GB drive in it might be worth it, but otherwise MDI with an iPod 160GB is probably easier...

Hmm, the Maps DVD is what does the partitioning. It's a bit bizarre that it's doing it that way. I swear that when I first looked into this (in 200 that it still maintained the 10GB initial partition size.

As for putting a 500GB HDD in it, you'd have to use a standard HDD, which wouldn't work very well due to 1) constant vibration from you driving and 2) the heat inside the RNS510. Using an industrial/automotive HDD such as the Hitachi Endurastar which can handle the vibration and temps up to 85 degrees C is required.

As for your other suggestion. I wouldn't let such filth into my car

Given your offset change, I assume are you referring to rubbing on the guard?

going from +45 to +50 would give you less clearance between the inner edge and the coilover.

Mr Bob,

Wheels fitted on Sunday and are now perfect. There is 16mm gap to the damper and similar clearence to the brake caliper.
