the Osir ones are not rubber insert they're hard black plastic. which won't matter because it's a dead pedal not something that may affect safety e.g. clutch or brake pedal

Thanks for the links mate, I found a couple of them and figured I'd be best to start a new thread in the right section of the forums

That went for a bargain price - did anyone here win it? I kind of wish I hadn't ordered mine already.

I fell asleep. Wonder what it went for. Last I saw it was $90 (+$44 postage).

There was a scratch underneath it, but that would not affect its functionality.

It went for $150 ish. I thought the scratch was on the bottom of the box, but I could be mistaken.

What about these license plate LED's:
(don't know if they would be too bright)

The LED lighting kits that I had seen previously for lighting the numberplate have been bad! So bad that they'd probably get you pulled over by any police car following you at night. The problem with LEDs are that they're do directional, rather than dispersed. That picture doesn't look too bad, but then the background light isn't that dark either, meaning you can't really tell whether the plate is properly lit by the LEDs, or lit by the background light?

Yeah i don't think they are really necessary and would most likely be way too bright.

I actually think it's not a bad look. I'd be very interested to see better photos under varied ambient light conditions, but for the small outlay I might consider it.

That link also advertises replacement interior footwell lights. Given that the MkVI has footwell illumination while driving, I imagine replacing the stockers with bright LEDs would be ridiculously distracting.

Yeah, that is my concern. Those photos have SO MUCH ambient light that the LED's might be that bad at lighting the plate that they'd be illegal in Australia. It reminds me of this video of an aftermarket place installing a similar LED tailight kit onto a GTI which they'd just done the APR Stage III conversion on:

(Warning: Explicit language is used to describe how bad these LED tailight kits are! lol)

I don't see the point having the plate lit up too much , or it will stand out more than anything else at night.

I have turned them off all together. Less distracting at night.

Interestingly, according to the comments by the guys in that linked thread, the LEDs are so bright that it makes the numberplate difficult to read. This could in of itself present a reason for defecting the car!
