  • Hey Pat,

Thanks for starting to organise another group buy. The previous one just had 29 orders... so obviously more people took advantage of it than who posted here (the offer was extended to the VWGolf.net.au forum too... so I have no idea how many there took it up).

How would the shipping be $6? It was US$12.95

If you are basing $6 on having combined shipping, I would highly recommend that you rethink this strategy. If your shipment gets picked up by customs, the 10% GST (plus other customs duties and "processing fees") you get slugged with far exceed the small additional amount paid for individual shipping....

    • ah good point there Coreying, i didnt think of that. Okay so i guess at this stage its better to go for Individual shipping, this way we will avoid any possible customs duty to be payed, espescially since we will automatically go over the $1000 customs threshold with just 5 orders..

Let me know if you need me to update the thread title and first post etc....

        • That would be fantastic if you could do that... May clear it up a little more.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it!

          • Mine arrived today and they look superb! Thanks for organising this Coreying! I ordered mine 28/8 and they arrived today, thats 11 days!

Good that we got 25% off! Bad that they charged me US$12.95 for postage when the actual cost of the stamp on the envelope was US$5.65.

Oh well, the paddles are great, nice quality, cant wait to get 'em fitted!

            Cheers!!!!

The US$12.95 is for "Postage and packaging". Keep in mind that whilst in Australia it may only cost you 55c to send a letter, that doesn't cover the cost of the envelope, or the preparation of the letter and packaging of it, nor someone driving to a box to actually post it etc. So the same thing here...

              • Count me in Pat for a black pair.

Coreying(when you get a chance), if you can remove "completed" from the thread subject that would be good.

                Cheers,

                Jayse.

Just installed tonight, following these instructions:
                  vw-instructions
YouTube - Oettinger VW DSG Paddle Install Video

                  Some HOT tips:
                  Don't need a Torx T40 on my 2008/9 GTI, only T20
Mechanics mirror is worth it for the airbag clips
Step 5 - here - is annoying... there are two tabs around the centre hinge (you can't see it in the pic) - the obvious one and another behind on the 'button' side. I used two screwdrivers at once here - be gentle with the tabs, I reckon they'd break really easily.

Well worth it guys, and it's easy to DIY - and the airbag didn't go off.

Took my s2tpp paddles to VW Solitaire today to get fitted. They had the car for 2 hours and then rang me and said that the paddles are not compatible with my steering wheel and can not be fitted! "Is this a joke?" I said. There are people doing this who aren't mechanics and you guys are supposed to be vw experts. "Sorry its not compatible" they said. I'm really pissed about this. Either they're idiots (which is a likely explanation) or there is an icompataiblty here. I did notice the guy above has a MKV gti but his steering wheel is different to mine. His has plastic buttons whereas mine has soft touch buttons. I can't imagine that it would make much difference. The section with the buttons is the same size and otherwise the wheel looks identical.

Has anyone with my style of steering wheel (above) had the s2tpp paddles fitted?

Cmon people to get the group buy going we need 10 buyers at least!

These are crazy hawt!!! I saw them and felt them on a friends car today and honestly it changes the whole feel of the steering wheel! May i be bold as saying it felt like driving a ferrari with F1 Shift????

Yeah - a guy from another forum did them in his GTI. I've never noticed that there was a different revision of steering wheel, but here you go:

                      • Yeah I found that just then as well on vwgolf.net. Well its back to VW tomorrow morning. See how we go. I offered to give them the instructions and they scoffed. They really are morons.

Ironically I tried to book it in to German Auto where I take my car for servicing and they were booked for 3 weeks in advance. I got in to VW on the same day!

Do you really want them touching the car after the first attempt?

                          • How hard can it be. They probably got to a certain point and without instructions couldn't keep going. I'll give em one more chance.
