Ordered and paid for a black one. Thought about the silver but was worried out the possible reflection in the sun.

Thanks for organizing the group buy!

Funnily enough, that's pretty much the same reason I decided upon black, too. The silver business all over the inside of my R36 is painful, I don't want any more!

good luck with the buy guys, I love mine use them heaps more than the OEM paddles. One thing about the reassembling make sure the horn cable is reattached as it sits loose over a pin and will detatch when you take the airbag out. Apart from that its a really easy install just ensure that the cables run in the same places otherwise there is a chance you will pinch them and you steering wheel buttons might not work.

You would have 4 options - long & short, silver & back. Can you have a look at the Audi page and let me know which one you'd like, and I'll email my contact and find out for you.

Yeah - I could've done that too... but then a few days later you'll find a 2.5% currency conversion fee which will bring you back up to the same price (unless Wizard absorbs that fee for you... lucky you if they do, most banks dont!)

They don't charge the fees hence why I only use it for non AUD purchases online or when O/S. Other good thing is the rate they charge is almost inline with the actual rate on the day. For larger purchases it makes quite a difference. The $201 has already appeared on the online statement balance.

Cool - I'll have to investigate that card them. Most other cards will do as you've noted (use the actual rate of the day, put up the $201 instantly), but a few days later will have the "conversion fee" as a separate charge.

Thanks for all the support guys. Thus far we've had 8 orders with 6 of the original 10 yet to be ordered.

Are you guys all planning on installing these yourself?

I am keen but the idea of removing the airbag scares me a little. Is there any chance of it going bang in my face? Or of damaging it such that it requires replacement (which I assume would be a lot of $$$).
I've replaced the stock stereo head unit in a WRX (which required the removal of most of the centre console....), so I'm not totally new to a little 'tinkering'. But tinkering next to something that is explosive and expensive puts me off...

I plan to. Many other guys have also already done this themselves from a previous group buy at vwgolf.net.au - as Nath has pointed out, the picture I used was from his car when he did the mod! (Thanks Nath! hehe)

You don't need to remove the airbag. You leave it in its cover ans case. You're just removing the horn/airbag cover from the steering wheel so that you can access the paddle rention points.

If you check out the text/picture based instructions from the S2TPP site, their first step is:
#1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (airbag) system. Disconnect the negative battery cable and pull the airbag fuse (refer to factory repair manual).
Some advice that came from others who have already done this is not to disconnect the battery, as it makes it far easier to turn the wheel etc. But if you do pull the airbag fuse, there is then no chance of it going off.

Have you received your Golf R yet? If not, maybe your dealer would install these during pre-delivery?
If you already have it, maybe Derek at European Autotech or one of the other VW specialists in Sydney would perform this for you.
