Ok... lets stop using the name "VAG-COM". It's name has officially been changed to VCDS specifically because "VAG-COM" seems to imply some link to VAG, in which there is not. It's a thirdparty application from Ross Tech.

Your dealers do not use VCDS (and if they do, it's unofficially). Your dealers will therefore be unlikely to do these changes for you. Even if they were willing, the instructions we all have on the internet for VCDS do not relate to the tools they have.

You have more chance asking a non-dealer Volskwagen specialist to assist, as it'd be likely that they do have VCDS.

In other words, if you want to be able to make these changes, you'll have to purchase your own VCDS cable, or ask a friendly member who has one

If you know what you're doing and have the tools available, it's only a 5 minute job (if that)
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

Has anyone figured out how to change the indicator flashes from 3 to 4 or 5 on a MY11 GTI?
Had some VCDS work done this morning, everything was OK except the indicators.
        Cheers.

Not yet, I have a link from this page regarding that: VCDS MKVI / MK6 Platform, Handy Coding tweaks.

It ends up here: Change comfort turn signals count in MKVI.

So this seems like the newer BCM (AKA 09 module) and may be related to the newer 16-SWCM that is installed with the newer BCM. My Gti is a 2010 and I don't have this problem, so I can't run any live testing.

Thanks Dana @ Ross Tech for your input.
Realized one more feature that may not be functional on MY11 cars, cornering fog lights can not be activated without having the indicator feature turned off. In other words, if you want the cornering fog lights on when you turn the steering wheel, you will have to live with it when the indicators are activated as well (even with ticking/unticking byte 17). It is my personal preference to have it not activated by the indicators.

Thanks for the feedback. I was able to turn on cornering lights (turning the wheel and/or using the turn signal) on a 2011 US model 4 door, manual trans. Gti with Halogen headlights. I'd guess this car is over a month old from sale date now, but the production is probably 2 ~ 3 months old. The relevant modules were:

I thought it was pretty weird that the Byte 16, Bit 0 comfort flashing bit was not enabled from the factory. My suspicion was that the UDS protocol 16 module was in charge of this operation since they did work on 3 flashes like the standard default. However, as Sebastian mentioned in the VW Vortex post, this BCM also has a SWL of 615.

If you want a second opinion on the cornering lights, post up the stock Auto-Scan so I can see what your car's made of. If you'd rather not post it here, since this is the comfort turn thread, I check the VW Vortex on a regular basis.
