118TSI Stalled

I lost drive in DSG and the golf didn't move- then stalled out.

WTF is going on???


Also on another note, my supercharger has lost it's squeal/chirp...

Also could be the mechatronic unit for the DSG as i have heard of them going and losing drive.

Hmm.. Not good...

11:44 13/7 Dealer hasn't heard of this happening before... Service manager will call me.

After I restarted it, there was no drive asin I out the pedal down and nothing happened, shifted to N then back to D, had drive, drove off.

Noticed my squeal wasn't there, so drove around abit replicating the conditions I used to get the squeal (4th in M mode and about 40kmh) and nothing. Dropped it into S mode, Changed alright but when in S2 and booted, S1 would take about 1-1.5sec before it would engage and then would take off. I don't know if this is because the blower isn't working/spooling up properly and the NA is crap until the turbo kicks in, but not a good thing!

Update was postponed as they didn't have the available service spots to do it.

Update.

Seems like the supercharger clutch is slipping at times. I had lag from 2-3k, then the turbo came in. Something is definately not right.

Perhaps there is a fault that has disabled your supercharger altogether! Hence the lack of chirp and GTI like lag on getting your low revs boost If it was a major problem you will probably get a warning light of some sort (EPC), so thats positive. Shame you cannot find someone nearby with VCDS to plug in and take peek at what is flagged. If you turn your IGN on, Eng not running, (in a quiet location) and pop the bonnet, can you still hear the constant high freq whine from the supercharger regulating flap motor? Sound should emanate from the rear centre of the engine cover. If not - Good chance it is disabled.

Chirp came back last night and the lag disappeared.

Logger, the whine is there now, but I don't know if it wasn't there before. My worry is it's going to be one of those intermittent things that shows up only when the techie isn't in the car with me or on the extended test drive!

Possible - but any fault will be stored in the system as a fault occurrence, even though "the issue" has gone away for the time being.
I just had a quick play with mine and disabling the supercharger clutch electronically does not remove the whine. However disabling the regulating flap does remove the whine which makes sense because that is what is whining. Disabling the regulating flap is sensed by the car which in turn faults the system and disables the clutch.
Disabling by either method prevents the supercharger running AND generates stored fault messages.

Noticed sometime the supercharger kicks in a little premmie at highway speeds on hills, wondering if disabling this on long drives would lower my fuel usage lol.... That is if it's not bad for the car.

TBH.. I'd rather the turbo not be there and have the whine of the blower ala Italian Job!
