Hey guys. As you can see by now, I've given REXman some time off (due to his insulting members in recent posts, combined with the fact he already had infractions for previous things). I'm also happy to give anyone else infractions if they are not able to have a civil conversation without resorting to insulting other forum members.
I think that people need to stop it with this "theoretical mathematics" and "I once owned a X which did Y". Every competent online 1/4 mile time to HP calculator I've seen has disclaimers about how it's an approximation. There are so many factors. For example, the GTech units allow you to put the weight, drag coefficient, and frontal surface area into their calculations, which then use the actual 1/4 mile PLOTTED results, combined with RPMs etc, to determine HP. And these are relatively simple devices!
I'm not a physicist, but I'd put money down that there are probably several more factors involved in those calculations. In the end, it's just hypotheticals.
What further frustrates me is now that people are out there performing measurements with GPS devices, and 1/4 mile times, and some negative people are still trying to tell people what is or isn't possible.
It's got to the point where I know that there are people (existing forum members and potential members) who have performed more/new dyno runs, and have also performed testing with VBOXES and don't wish to post their results because of the negativity and personal attacks that are going on in these threads. That's a sad state of affairs!
masev - Guy_H isn't around at this time as he's in the USA helping with the development of new products etc. But to answer your question, yes, I'm very happy with my setup.

I missed a lot in the last few days but it did all go south pretty quick. I'm not interesting in being the poster boy for any company's products - I don't get sponsored to be. I did the dyno and 0-100 runs in the interest of a healthy discussion but its doing my head in.
The car was great before any of this and tune or not, that won't change. I'm bailing out of this one.

Besides.. You should be flattered I was just trying to convince you not to leave the community over something so silly. Im not so nice to most people.
I think a healthy rivalry is a good thing so Id hate to see this thread turn to crap. But anyways instead of everyone getting their panties bunched why cant we investigate things further.
0-100 times are always gonna be a load of rubbish. The real tests are in the seat of your pants (how big your grin is) and on the drag strip. Be great to get some more interest in some of the VAG drag days that seb from euro automotive tries to push. Lining cars up along side eachother in a legal off street race would be entertaining I thinkLast edited by Tim; 26-02-2011, 02:23 PM.

None of the closed door VBOX/GTECH testing (FWIW I got 6.2 0-100 in my mk4 R32, chipped mk5 GTI 7.6 and 07 STI 7.2. GTI had traction problems, STI driver isnt brutal and didnt launch. should have raped me).
Hit the strip support people putting MONEY forward (like seb for WSID) and bang some times out that the cars are capable. Still variables at the strip (hot day, tyre pressure, **** driver, bogged launch) but one car against another. Its what you want...
I just find it amusing that these Stage 2+ Gofl Rs dont hit 200awkw like S3's do.....
