Have you tried installing a Sprint booster? Although it doesn't totally fix the problem it does greatly improve the off the line response.

    • I don't have this problem at all, certainly not like described above

edit: avoid a sprintbooster it's just not needed if you have a properly tuned setup, it really messes with power delivery too. Stock cars perhaps but I don't like them at all and every customer who has one removes it after the tune

      • Have you tried using Manual mode for quick starts?

If you press hard on the brake pedal to engage the hill hold assist (and if you can anticipate the green light timing) you've got 2.5 seconds of the car holding the brakes for you to hover over the accelerator. A sprintbooster will help with those early stages of acceleration but depending on how you drive with it you could wear the clutch quicker.

You may be right with K04 equipped cars the sprint booster may not be a good match for the turbo lag. It may make throttle control/power delivery more difficult.

I have found in my K03 Tiguan that it does sharpen up the throttle and assists with quick getaway at the lights. I guess that's the advantage of a smaller turbo in traffic light GP

Also Tiguan runs the DQ500 7 speed so not sure if the response of this box is better or worse than the 6 speed in terms of initial delay.

          • I think a good remap should be the basis of addressing any power delivery issues on a Golf R. Anything else is just fussing about on the edges.

Keep in mind that VW detuned them for Australia because we are classified as "hot climate".

DNA is down in MEL. Ask lucas_R about the DNA on his Golf R.

There are a few others down there too. Do your homework & don't get over-awed by marketing hype & market penetration. If you can see some dyno graphs & talk to other customers it will help you choose. Don't get too hung up on peak numbers - have a look at who has the torque coming on earliest, the smoothness of the graph (this can be dodgied-up though) and the increase in overall area under the new curves. I don't pay much attention to the power curve - it's all about torque for me.

Looked under the boot cover tonight, realised there was a blank spot - am I missing a spare tool?

Yes the optional Dopple fauster is supposed to be there normally however our cars are designated 'Hot Climate' so typically they come without it. I think you can buy them online still.
