Oh ok I see.. Thanks for clarifying that Coreying. I'd still like to know the weight difference though

Slightly louder than stock, more noise at WOT.

Derek is fitting a production version shortly - drop him a line & you should be able to see / hear it in person!

Maybe I hung around the Jap stuff too much but $4k for a turbo back exhaust just seems crazy to me. (Yeah I know, don't like it, don't buy it....)
Believe me, we looked at mig welding, cheaper mix stainless & mild steel to be similar to some other imported products, but we couldn't justify cost / quality. This is our most intricate exhaust & to be honest, our least profitable by a LONG way. Anyway, we already have export orders - but the high dollar makes that hard

As Coreying mentioned - its not RSC. I have not actually weighed the systems, but next production batch I will try to get some system weights for you (never dawned on me yesterday - sorry).

            • Guy,
What are your thoughts on running this without a remap?

              • Catback will be fine, but the extra flow of the downpipe will cause the ECU to constantly try & keep the EGT's in check, so probably would ultimately go into limp mode sorry.

                • Hey GUY how much is the cutback only, and would it give any power increase over the stocka?

I'm definitely looking at getting your tune - who knows I might have even already had it if I got my car in JUNE when I wanted a car.. But as a performance enthusiast the 240kWs seems very good, bfb.

Is it punchier in the mid range too?

                  • And what's stock boost on an R run, and then what does it run peak after your tune

                    • Don't have any power figures on the catback only sorry. Personally the catback would gains would be minimal - possibly 3 - 4 kw maximum.

Stock Boost is around ~1bar. Stage 1 is around 1.35- ~1.4 bar.

tell me about the wait! - I just tried to order a new R with DSG & they tell me that it will be April next year....

                      • Just picked up my R from Volkspower after they installed the APR downpipe.....

All i can say is frigging wow!

Without doing a WJ on you all........

What a difference this system has made, seat of the pants and sound.

A lot more revvier & toeyer under 4,000rpm and its almost made it like my Mk5 Gti (with Stage1) down low.
                        Boost definetly comes in earlier!

Trust me when i say the R has been liberated.....worth every cent by far!
                        (take note nay sayers)

And the sound is to die for....

Cruising no difference, totally comfortable, until you open it up it barks, the the upshift farts are nuts...

Do I recommend it, hell yeah!!!

R owners get yourself one, you will not regret it!

Now for more G-Tech Pro II tests.......

                        Cheers.

                        • Sounds like it's bloody awesome Fab and can't wait to see your 0 -100 km/h times now.

Any chance of getting some in or out of the car footage so we can hear what she sounds like?

                          • Fab you're gonna be the most hated R owner around....until we get our own that is!

                            Sounds like you're impressed

                            • You don't have to convince me Fab, having owned Stage II before, I know it has nothing to do with peak numbers and all about the "real-life-experience". I'd already costed in the ECU, Downpipe, IC and CAI in my purchase budget for the R

The IC is probably not necessary, but since the R's is a little on the small side, I'll do that anyway just for piece of mind

                              • Cheers Fab, certainly sounds like a worth while investment to allow a better breathing engine

What is the labour charge for fitting the downpipe?
