    TPI 2021116/4 See here

My car went in yesterday and had the software updated. They were able to detect slight shudder which was good.

Was told by Service Manager when I picked car up that due to DSG being reset, it would have to be "Run in for around 200km so the transmission has time to 'relearn' your driving style. You might experience strange behaviour up until then".

On the run home, the changes did seem a tad smoother with gears being held to slightly higher RPM. Then when warmed up I experienced two slippages.

Oh well, I'll see out my 200km then back for a new clutch pack...

Removing the airbag is the tricky/fiddly bit - best to have a second pair of hands.

I have experienced the 7th gear shudder for a while. While driving slowly on flat in 7th but then the road starts climbing. The DSG wouldn't engage 6th but would rather shudder unless I press the accelerator. I complained about this at my 30k service, they tested it and found nothing. However, the thing continued for me, even though at random times.

Then at about 35k the 2nd gear shudder came in. Even though I was unhappy about the 2nd gear not taking up the power properly, e.g. feels like choking for about 1 sec when taking off in roundabouts, the shudder didn't happen until 35k. Got worse with the time although I learned exactly how and when it was going to happen.

So come the 45k service I took it to VW, did quite a bit of test driving with the tech and he agreed it was awfull. He said they will hook up the test computer to it and go for a bit of a drive and very likely upgrade the software. He said they do a few upgrades every week and in past couple of months they only needed to do 2 clutch pack replacements, software fixed it for 95% of all.

Now, two weeks later the DSG still works like a dream, no shudder, no 'chokes' in roundabouts, it just works fine.

I notice in service report they stated something like "Tested, found issue <some number> and reloaded firmware" something like that.
