"THE" man at CRICKS SUNSHINE COAST has booked in my 09 118tsi to replace the S/C clutch pack with the unit that solves (according to the factory) the "chirping" issue. Mine started "chirping at approx 27000kms, now at 32000kms. Not one other issue at all. According to "THE" man at my dealership the fix has only just become available from the factory. Being done 22/2. Will post result.

I was told that that revised waterpump wasn't going to be a long term fix (seeing they had done it once already and the squeak came back) and that there is meant to be a change to the clutch material in the supercharger coming out eventually....
I had around 15,000kms with no squeak once the water pump was replaced in mine the first time so fingers crossed you get a better result!
And enjoy no shudder once the clutch pack is replaced - the car is a joy (with squeak) to drive once again!

Drop my car off yeterday morning. Need to leave the car there overnight as dealer said is a 6 hours job for the clutch pack and 4 hours for the water pump. He said is the new revised version of water pump. Hopefully it fixes the bird in my engine for good ... no more chirping sound

Dropped my car off yesterday for the clutch pack replacement and interval service and pollen filter replacement too. Wasn't expecting it back for 3 days but I get to pick it up this afternoon
Only downside is that they want to replace the waterpump again but haven't got the part in stock so I have to go back again for that... It feels like the warranty issues are never ending *sigh*
Hoping to be a happy little camper with no shudder anymore woohoo (fingers crossed!)

Clutch pack replaced in the Golf subsequent to the 30k service. Excellent prompt service from Trivett Volkswagen in Blacktown. No more shudder in 1st/2nd anymore, all as smooth as silk.

Booked in to have the clutch pack replaced on the 1st of feb (first time they have a loan car available) and hopefully the squeak fixed again as well. Supposedly there is a new bulletin in regards to the squeak/waterpump - anyone heard anything?

I've just dropped my car off at the dealers to take look at the gearbox (DSG) specifically. I have 3 niggles / compliants which I hope they look into. I believe in one form or another, they have been mentioned on this thread.
1. 2nd shudder (not always but enough to be annoying)
2. 3 gear bag of bolts (this is what I'm calling it. When the car automatically downshifts into 3rd, i sometimes get a grinding (think nuts and bolts in a glass jar noise) noise - this cannot be good right?
3. Failure to consistently kickdown (if I'm in 4th at say 50kmh, i floor it till i hit the button in the firewall, nothing happens other than it just speeds up in 4th - no downshift whatsoever. This has caught me out too many times and now a real safety issue).

Got the car back today, lucky - I guess.Originally posted by Stelex View PostHeard from the dealer today, they had to order the Megatronic thing from Germany, it will take about 10 working days. That looks likely to run into my holiday so I am royally screwed.
2 years old 118TSI DSG, Comfort-line, had everything replaced, from engine, air-cond, clutch pack, mechatronics ... a perfect car now.Just spoke to the fleet to get a payout quote to end my lease and sell the piece of junk.
$28k - anybody?

I've got my car back today. It drives exactly the same as it did before the mechatronics replacement, nowhere as close to the Jetta I mentioned above. Meh!Originally posted by Stelex View Post
I had a chat with the mechanic today and he said that there are 2, or rather 3 DSGs.
1 - Prior to 2009, so called wet DSG, something of an oil-filled box
2 - The dreaded 2009 DSG with the Mechatronics that is failing en masse
3 - The same 2009 DSG but with a different mechatronics that is apparently 'perfect'
When I took my Golf to have the clutch pack replaced they gave me a loan car, a brand new Jetta. I can't tell you how beautifully that car drove, the DSG was as smooth as it possibly could be. It was sooo noticeable I was driving up and down Brisbane for almost an hour.
The guy today explained that Jetta has the new type mechatronics, the one I'll be getting.

As a result they have ordered replacement parts from Germany and will advise when they arrive.
I'm guessing it was the clutch pack - it was picked up by the wife and she doesn't recall exactly what part they said. I'd imagine it should be noted on the service report.
