Umm... sorry to anyone I offended (there seem to be quite a few of you!). It was a legitimate question -- if their contract is flexible in terms of raising prices, I'd wondered if it could also work in my favour to lower prices. My assumption was that VW would reimburse the dealer for the various taxes on any vehicle sold during that period, which could also apply to my sale.

By the way, I didn't contact Consumer Affairs to be vindictive or report the dealer (??!!) -- it was simply to see what the standard was in these cases. As they confirmed, "a contract is a contract", and any reduction would be at the discretion of the dealer.

Geepers... obviously I need to be more careful what I post on here...
Not personal, but this is not the first time someone asked about varying their contract because of VWA lowering prices or sale etc, hence the general abruptness of the responses. At the end of the day, a contract is a contract. Best thing to do is to ask your dealer nicely if they can throw in a free accessory or something.
