Golf R Specifications and Prices

Simple and quick question. Is metallic paint an extra on the Golf R or is it included in the standard
listed price ?

Good to hear that people are starting to take orders of the R!

I'm one of those 'fools' who put a deposit down for an R last December. I signed a contract so that I could take advantage of the government tax break (about $8000 tax credit).

Anyway, will be picking up 5dr DSG stock next Friday. I would have loved the blue but only silver is available However, did get close to 10% discount (not quite as much as when I bought MKV gti) so am pretty happy with the added bonus of 50% tax break and GST off ect.

Having had GTI which at one stage was APR stage II, i'm really looking forward to being able to put all that power down to the ground. And unlike some, I really don't like wheel spins! However I do find the new MKVI gtis a much more sporty looking car esp with those 18s.

In regards to 370z, I went for a test drive late last year and didn't really like the rough manual transmission. I however thought the interior was miles better than 350z. And it sure is plenty fast! In the end it was going to be too expensive for me with it being over 70k. I know that the R has less standard equipments than 370z but at least I can afford one with it being in low 50s in stock form!

I stand corrected, I just used that calculator (thanks coreying) and you can get a 3 Door in a Manual with nothing else on it for $54000.

The price I paid with the discount was under 54k for standard DSG 5 door. I thought it was pretty good effort by the dealer considering the car is already in stock and all the talk in regards to no discount. However who know I might find that the car has 200kms on it or something! oh well

Oh and by the way, queensland dealers are terrible! No discount whatsoever! Glad I signed up in NSW

200km is pushing it a little for new but still acceptable. It may even mean a trip to the tint shop and back but considering the car is in stock can't really complain.

As recommended on the last page or so I'd recommend getting the car from interstate. Got my current car from PhillipVWDealer at Gerald Slaven and is looking after people with R purchasing as well. Not much choice in Brisbane and never got much of a discount (although if you can get Corp discount it's worth it).

Thanks was because i signed a contract last year. As long as the car is delivered before 31st december this year you can get that. I pushed mine so i could get it before eofy even though it means im getting my10 model and without factory bluetooth

Just got back from picking it up and a short drive - bloody Friday afternoon traffic...

Awesome. I love it.

Most powerful car I have ever owned and getting into it after our Prado was surreal. I can see what people say about the DSG lag, but I for one am actually happy with it, as otherwise I dont know if I would ever stomp down hard!!

Take it for a decent drive tomorrow and will post a few pics - then Sunday off to the V8's in (IMO) the hottest little car in Darwin!
