This is one of many videos (probably seen by many members) but pay attention to which (girly) cars are driven by those girls with "GIRLY" driving style ... no GTI
Yes unfortunately as I've said before, its the basic shape of the Golf which feminises it, bright colours don't help either. Do you get uncomfortable silence when you declare its actually your car and not your wife's? I love the Pirelli though and performance-wise its out of this world.
Its NOT his car.

If one Golf is a girls car they all are - same shape.
The Golf is not a girls car; you guys have it all wrong.
Statistics indicate:
Per capita, the highest registration of Golfs in NSW is Surry Hills, Sydney.
Surry Hills also has the highest percentage of gays per capita.
Volkswagen sponsors the Gay Mardi Gras.
Plenty of evidence there to suggest that the Golf is not a girls car.
i don't really think convertibles in general are all that suitable for this climate.. top down in summer is too damn hot (not to mention the sunburn), and too cold in winter..
i find myself using the car in the middle of the day in winter, or at night in summer.
on the other hand, when i am driving it at those times, it's worth it! if it's running that is.. 40 yr old british cars aren't the most solidly built vehicles
Funny posts there, you know nothing about the Eos then you compare it to a 40 year old British convertible! There is no comparison. Yes, in Summer the top is rarely down in the middle of a hot day, more in the morning and evening. I had the top down on Sunday, a pleasant 21-22 degree day and it was most enjoyable, the big difference is, it takes 25 seconds to convert to a hardtop coupe without moving from the driver’s seat.......oh, and it doesn’t leak unlike the 40 year old British convertible which is guaranteed to leak.
I used love riding motor bikes but it is simply too dangerous these days, too many idiots around, convertible is the closest I can come to recreating the motor bike experience so that’s my choice.
06 Jetta 2.0TFSI Killed by a Lexus!
09 Eos 2.0TSI DSG Loved this car but has now gone to a new home!!

they are still convertibles, so as a statement on convertibles it is still valid, and you even say the top stays up and down at the same times..
yes, the Eos is a 'girl's car', in as much as such a statement can still exist these days. no, that shouldn't (or won't) prevent people enjoying them. i haven't paid them any attention since subconsciously i've lumped it in with the peugot CC and GM tigra convertibles in my mind.
yes i would still keep this over an Eos :p - it fits under boomgates so i don't pay for parking! haha
[QUOTE If you're comfortable with your sexuality then there's no such thing as a girl's car.QUOTE]
Just because a man is comfortable holding a purse, at the end of the day, its still a purse.
I guess this is a Golf forum, so some guys seem to be a little defensive about the reality that they drive, what the general population consider, a girls car.
Hey, Im buying a GTI for $50K. But I will be the first to acknowledge that it definitely is a girly girls car. Just a real good handling, for a FWD, auto, car. And extremely well put together.
And I dont need to compare a Golf to a SS Torana, or Walkinshaw to make the point, or to answer the original posters query. Just ask women. Ask some normal, down to earth guys. They know it. A real man would simply be content with their decision. But wise enough to stand by it.
I obviously cant change people minds, thats for sure. But I have always considered my self a realist. Even when I bought a MY09 WRX, I was fully aware, that It was ugly, looked pretty soft, and handled like crap.
And yes, MX-5's are definitely pretty fem convertable cars, guys. Again its all about the handling. But they are cute and convertible. Then again if you had a SLK55.. different story!! Or a 350Z/330CI/A4..!!!
RWD+Manual+Sports body =Mans Car
FWD+Auto+Hatch=Not mans car
I must say though, nearly all the above mentioned cars, from everyones posts, would be fun to drive.
What a joke of a thread this is... Are people really that cave man in their mentality that they'll pigeon hole cars to genders? Surprised there aren't people in here advocating that there's no such thing as a woman's car because a woman's place is in the kitchen.
Believe it or not the average person doesn't buy a car as a symbol of their masculinity. The ones who do are likely to be the ones least secure with it. By all means buy and drive a car because you like it, and because it feels good to drive it. This whole thread just seems like a bunch of primary school kids, talking about getting cooties from driving a 'girl's car'. If someone was to criticise a car I was driving by calling it a girl's car it would actually make me feel better about owning/driving it.
