We can't do anything about our sulphur content other than to tell the federal transport minister to ignore as much as possible the pleas of the local car and petroleum industries' concerns about the government's desire to introduce Euro 5/6 as quickly as possibe.
Anyway, I also advocate using 98, because in Sydney it's only 5c per litre more, so I think using 95 is false economy especially in those engines where Volkswagen say you need 98 to obtain maximum performance.
But it's also plain wrong to say that 98 is the minimum RON for these engines. It's plain for all to see, the actual minimum is 95 for pretty much every engine. And if it were actually true most Germans would be livid if they weren't given the choice to fill with 95, because over there 98 is a more considerable 10~12c per litre more expensive than 95.
I don't like to deal with the middle man that is Volkswagen Australia. Prefer to get the info straight from the horse's mouth. Maybe they should hire better translators...
