yeah I must be...
i seem to be so tight that I hold on to my cars for all of 11 months and then turn them over.
when you've owned so many, at the end of the day, it's a machine. so long as it lasts me the 11 months, I couldnt care less.
If it could run on 91, then that's what I'd be putting in it. stuck idling in traffic, it makes no difference....
I guess the same applies to oils, you just put the cheapest no name no standard oil in as you couldn't care less what happens after 11 months to the next owner.
Another reason to buy a new car and not a near new one that's been abused by the owner through lack of caring.
BP Ultimate contains "a high dose of additive to protect the fuel system and to remove deposits that foul intake valves (doesn't apply to FSI/TSI engines) and the combustion chamber causing poor combustion and knock". Results have been verified by evo magazine so make no mistake, 98 RON fuels are no crock. But whether or not it makes a difference varies by each make & model.
But some of you guys need to calm down because contrary to popular belief, using 95 won't induce the second coming. Granted that because fuel is incredibly cheap here choosing between 95 or 98 makes no real difference to the hip pocket, but like I said before the majority of drivers are using 95 if that German site is anything to go by - for every three people that use 95, only one uses 98 (3:1) and that only increases for those with the 118TSI (6:1) and 90TSI (9:1) engines. And if these people can be bothered enough to upload detailed fuel records onto the internet, chances are they're not just misfuelling.
Golf GTi for sale
Only 11 months old
Only ever run on 91 not 98 as per manufacturers specs because it doesn't matter and I don't give a s**t
Only ever used reconstituted no-name oil, not the good stuff as per manufacturers specs because it doesn't matter and.......
Only paid 46k but asking 52k as I don't believe in losing money on depreciating assets
Don't care if it sells or not because I'm a gazillionaire.
First to see will buy.....from someone else.

Ummm.. not quite.
Petrol is a consumable that gets utilised and then expelled. once gone, it's gone.
oil on the other had (should not) isnt consumed, and is required to be used again and again.
But, further, at 11 months, why would I have had the need to chane teh oil at all???
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
Since we're starting to take this to a personal level, if you RTFM of a Mk6, the manufacturer states, as per teh little sticker on teh fuel flap, 95RON.. not 98.
and guess what.. that's what it gets....

That's interesting Coreying, as on the MY10 GTI the label is VERY different and has 95RON min. no mention whatsoever of 98.
Volkswagen have never recommended 95 RON for the GTI. I've yet to see one that has 95 only on the filler door so either you're reading it wrong or the wrong sticker is attached.

Yeah mate - MY10 models started from Mid last year (can't be bothered looking up the exact date). If you could post the photo of inside your fuel door, it'd be a good reference. As per Maverick's link, the update that Volkswagen announced was to the minimum fuel allowed... but it seems maybe the information on the inside of the fuel doors has changed unannounced.
Mav's link states:
"Volkswagen now recommends a minimum 95RON for all petrol engines with the exception of three current models; Passat R36, Passat CC V6 and Golf R32 models"
but then later in the tabulated form, it has the 155kw GTI requiring 98RON.
that's misinformation at it's best.
about to take image of fuel filler door...
