Golf GTI Adidas - Limited Edition Coming To Australia
Adidas badges, different 18s, xenons, LED tails, leather seats, sunroof, satnav, ACC, RVC, MDI, Premium BT, tint, DSG for $52.5k on road last week in Sydney. As I said in the purchasing thread - I just couldn't drive a car named after a shoe...
If only it was like the Pirelli with even engine upgrades also. I guess the Adidas has R LED Taillights also I think?
The fact that VW haven't done any engine upgrades to the EA888 for the Adidas limited edition leads to me to suspect that the EA888 can't handle them. i.e it isn't as robust in it's current form as the EA113. Otherwise, they would have just used the EA888 with a KO4 in the R.
As limited editions go, this Adidas LE is in the same league as the Limited Editions that the Japanese car companies put out. i.e. slap on some stickers, some alloys and different coloured fabric. e.g. Suzuki Sportsgirl edition Swift, Nissan Reebok edition Pulsar.
Now now triod12... I like bagging out the EA888 as much as the next person (especially since WJ keeps trying to remind us how great it is). But we all know that it can take more than it currently does, since it has more in the Audi's. Not any more killerwasps, but more torques! More torques in fact than the Golf R in Australia.... 155kW and 350Nm. This comes simply by the addition of variable valve lift
Stopped by the my dealership today for a poke around and they had 4 on the lot, there certainly not my cup of tea. I hate to say it but I think in years to come they will turn out like the Reebok pulsar. You say you drive an old pulsar no one cares. Tell em you drive the Reebok edition and you just get laughed at.
... in saying all that id still take the wheels over the Detroits any day of the week though

Remember kiddies that opinions are like assholes, the looser they are the more questions people ask.
Adidas is a classic German sports apparel company.. They invented the leather football studded boots, just like VW invented the hot hatch GTI. In Europe they are well respected. Im not ashamed to say I wear Adidas boots for soccer and have a few Adidas Chelsea jerseys + Jackets.
Why all the Hate?
I'd say its a great combination for a limited model..
