Golf GTI Adidas - Limited Edition Coming To Australia
What are the odds that VW will release a 'hot' version of the GTi (as opposed to a dressed up one) to keep sales moving along when the MkVII is just around the corner?
Considering that they have pushed back the MKVII release because the sales of the MK6 are so great that they're having trouble keeping up with demand (and have apparently even stopped accepting orders for the R due to this), I'd say... not likely

Surely this can't be true.

But I'm asking WHEN VW are forced, by the competition catching up, to release the MkVII, would they do the proper 'hot' version? I fully understand that, given 1/4 of Golfs sold are GTis (allegedly), there is no incentive for VW to do anything truly special for the forseeable future.
Resident grumpy old fart VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS
I still don't think that there is a need. There is no R32 anymore, so what would they do?
It'd be kinda silly to put the R engine into the GTI (like they did with the MKV GTI Pirelli/30th Edition), as that'd make it the same as an R without AWD.
The EA888 engine doesn't come in a more powerful version, just a more torquey version care of Audi's valve-lift variants.
They could partner with an ECU vendor... but doubt that would happen outside of the smaller entities such as Singapore.
Surely this can't be true.

What I'd heard is that they were still selling them, but just being told not to actively sell them. The new VW ad that's been showing for a few days has an R in it, so be a bit surprised to see VW not taking orders for them.
Three different forum members have been told by their respective dealers (two not from the MK6 forum).
I was also told verbally by a respected dealer...
I would honestly buy one of these and immediately remove the badges on the pillars and then send the car in to be a) reupholstered or b) chuck some recaro's in it to make it feel special.
Other than the seats and badges i really do like the car. Those rims are what won me over tbh. Love them!

Uhh dude, why not just buy the rims??

You'd need to do a) + b) since doing just b) won't change the rear seats!
Though I can somehow see a lot of these selling in Melbourne, and western Sydney
Adidas isn't even that crash hot of a brand. Now, if it was a "Hugo Boss" edition, or something it would get more respect from me. Italian handstiched leather seats, instead of "new car smell", it smelled like "Boss" etc.
hahahahahahaha. im sorry......
talk about "worldly"... Brisbanite having a dig at Melbourne, then going on to say that a Hugo Boss edition Golf would appeal to them, particularly if the cabin smelled like cologne?
hahahahahaha. sorry.... looks to me like you're the perfect candidate to move down here to Melbourne, or Western Sydney....
