that's a good idea... get all the VAGCOM codes in one place, just in case the links from other websites gone missing or deleted...

Hehe, if only I enabled this feature last weekend (got a bit of H20 in the car the other day after a hot afternoon). As it turns out leather seats are a lot easier to wipe dry than cloth)
I brought the work laptop home this weekend so I'll have to add that feature and test it.

finally enabled this auto closing sunroof on rain sensor on my GTI... took a while and didn't realise needed to enable the RainLightSensor section then go back to Central Elec BCM Long Coding (2 step process), some of the bytes instruction on other forum was a bit off (eg wasn't byte 24 but was like byte 13 or 17 a lot earlier than that)... took a while to test as I didn't realised it only worked when car is being locked like when you parked and forgot to close it...

RS73, did you do this mod on a MK5 or MK6. I asked my local garage to do this on my MK6 with the information from earlier in this thread but he said it was only for the MK5???

The auto rain closing worked like a charm once I found out the correct conditions for it to activate. I'm also loving the recently activated cornering foglights! Thanks again Steve!

Once you get into the correct menu within VCDS, you should just tick the box and click do it.

Apologies for all the questions but the link you posted for me, is this specifically for MK6 Golfs. Reason i aske is that the post with the information on earlier on in this thread, my local garage said that it was for a MK5 only.

Yes it's for the Mk6. It worked for me and was pretty straight forward once you are in VCDS.

why does everyone ask if this opening and closing feature is standard or not? Isnt it pretty obvious that it is standard? God...and plus, if you dont know if it is, just do it your self...its not gonna hurt you to hold the lock/unlock button down..

It's not standard and you have to enable it via VCDS.

It's got nothing to do with holding down the lock/unlock button. You should probably go back and read the thread a little closer

If one leaves the family dog in the car with the windows down a little and the roof on tilt, is it possible to have this feature enabled without the roof closing automatically when it rains? Or can this feature conveniently be turned "on" and "off" as required after parking?

It's an all or nothing.
It can only be enabled or disabled by VCDS.
It is not enabled by standard on any car delivered....

I have often thought a possible reason for it not being enabled ex factory, is to cover the case of people leaving kids in the car with windows down. In a warm climate, Rain shower, windows close, temp skyrockets and disastrous outcome. Unlikely but possible.
