Auto Closing Sunroof & Windows Tricks and Tips?

I spoke to my dealer today who told me that both the rain sensing and the cornering function with the fog lights could be enabled on my soon to be arriving GTI through the set up menu.

According to this thread, that's not the case.

So, is there anyone in SA who could do it for me?

Anyone got the windows up working though VCDS yet so you don't need to hold the keyfob down the whole time?

I have just activated:
- rain closing (as per Steve's thread, thanks)
- emergency brake flash
- teardrop last wipe function (after using the window washer 5 sec later does a single wipe). - only seems to work on the rear wiper.

Also have enabled:
- fog light cornering
- Instrument needle sweep ie 'staging' (build 09 week 45+ only)
- Auto locking

Thats exactly what I want to do in my GTI when it arrives. shame VWA dont request the cars have these features as standard? If its just a simple update for the onboard computer?

What is the auto locking feature you mentioned? I know most cars will automatically lock themselves if you press the unlock button on the keyfob and dont touch the doors for 20s or so. So what is this?

Auto locking when you drive off. It's probably in the MFD menu somewhere but couldn't find it initially.

Edit: it's a standard function on the MFD, same with comfort indicator I think.

It was definitely in the MDF menu on my MKV GTI.

Not a GTI but my 2 day old 118TSI has both cornering function and rain sensing enabled before delivery and I did not ask for it.

So my guess is it will probably be done by the dealer for you anyway before delivery.

After seeing chat on here about getting the dealer to change settings, what settings would you be requesting that your dealer set up prior to taking delivery of your car?

Needle sweep?
Windows open / close via the remote?

It's very very unlikely the dealer will perform these for you as they're not supported by Volkswagen and the dealer can be left responsible if something goes wrong.

Anyone with VCDS/Vagcom can easily enable them for you and it will be much less hassle than trying to get the dealer to perform the changes.

finally enabled this auto closing sunroof on rain sensor on my GTI... took a while and didn't realise needed to enable the RainLightSensor section then go back to Central Elec BCM Long Coding (2 step process), some of the bytes instruction on other forum was a bit off (eg wasn't byte 24 but was like byte 13 or 17 a lot earlier than that)... took a while to test as I didn't realised it only worked when car is being locked like when you parked and forgot to close it...
