Static lights can only be activated using VCDS Found in Coding, Long Coding helper, Byte 14.
Only work with Headlights On or in Auto. The static turning lights come on either after you indicate, or when you turn the steering wheel about 90 degrees, And only if you are driving forward. If you are driving with your fog lights on... which is a heavy fine in most states! the static turning lights will not work as you have the fog lights turned on!!
2010 MkVI GTI Carbon Steel, Leather, Sunroof, Dynaudio, MDI, Detroits, ACC and i went the manual! Stg2 APR tune.

Hey G-rig, what exactly did you do to enable the chirp sound?

          I think it's this one:

Alarm Confirmation via lights and horn
Found in Coding, Long Coding helper.
          Some handy codes/tips here

Thanks G-rig, so the chirp sound is from the horn?

not the horn, from somewhere else (like a car alarm chirp).

                  Hey MkVIGTI (similar name)

Can you or anyone else help me with a dealership in Melbourne that will actually do this please?

My car is currently at the Melb. dealership it was purchased from getting some work done on it and will be picked up
                  tomorow morning at 11 am.

One request was to have this feature activated.
Receievd email back this afternoon with the following response

'Quote' There are no directions from Volkswagen to indicate how to activate the static cornering light or whether it can be activated,
therefore this feature is not activated. 'Quote"'

Phoned your dealership (service dept) to ask and they said this info is technically correct fro VW due to the fact that the fog lights
on the GTI (being a diferent shape) are not suitable as static cornering lights as they dont meet this specification.

Unlike the other Golf range with round fog light...eg TSI 118, TDI (which I currently have as a loan car (sports pack fitted)
                  and they are activated).
He also said that the (sorry forget the name) equiv. to VAGCOM that they use doesnt allow them to do this and it would need to be an aftermarket
.......and he's not sure if they have it there but will speak to the service manager and hopefully get back to me today.
Had hoped to get this done while the car was already my dealers service dept, but looks like they cant/wont do it.

Did you get your done at your dealership and who did you speak to please mate?
I live quiet close to your dealership actually, are you in the Eastern Suburbs too?
Would appreciate any advice, oh dont know anyone who has VAGCOM ....sigh

Doesn't VAGCOM, now VCDS, also require a license in addition to the cable?

Yes, but not in the way computer users are used to. A validation chip is built into the circuitry and the software is free, as are updates when made available.

Purchase of the cable includes the license, you can use it on as many computers (and cars) as you like, and if you lose the software, just download a fresh copy.

Their only stipulation is that if you sell the cable, the software registration doesn't transfer with it — so requests for help from the new owner will be met with a demand for a fresh registration on their database ($99 US.)

It sounds like the dealer is doing the usual 'mate i can't help' b.s, I got all my VCDS (Vagcom) changes done at a Veedub specialist, They know what they are doing and are more then happy to help, I'm in perth and used Quattro motors who are also the APR tune specialist, anyone want good help/advice see them!!

They dealers don't use VCDS... it's not a VW product

So this is the "Micro-CAN" cable, which if I understand this compatibility list only works with a limited range of VW's and will NOT work with the previous or new Polo, new Amarok, "New Bettle", current or next Touareg, or Transporter. And it costs AU$349

But for only $150 more you can purchase the "proper" CAN cable which works with every VW model (and for that matter Audi, Skoda and Seat) made since at least 2000 onwards?

If my understanding of that is correct, since I have multiple VAG cars in the family, which aren't all Golfs, I'd be best to get the proper cable.
