Damn... you poor WA people with the absorbent prices over there. Mustn't be any competition there yet :/

Oh, and I'm interested in the swirl mark question too - although I can report that my mates 9 month old Audi with Ventureshield doesn't exhibit any swirling yet... but then, I don't really know what his cleaning process is....

yea we get ripped of big time... not everybody over here is on mining money but every business seems to think we are.... its $900 standard kit, $1,400 full kit ('free' pillars' - how can they be free when ur paying $600 more?!) and an EXTRA $495 for paint protection on the rest of the car (G|Techniq Cyrstal Lacquer) nice stuff but SOOOOOO expensive its ridiculous

I was also considering the Ventureshield stuff too, got to weigh up the cost of a respray after a couple of years against the film

In regards to paint protecting, I was going to do this myself using some of the Prima Products from Zen Automotive Supplies (I've got these products from him before and they are good) but again need to weigh up my time vs paying someone to do it, the positive side is, if you were doing it yourself it's fun time spent with your ride

we may be able to get the ventureshield cheaper if we get a couple of us wanting it done, no harm in asking if you decide to go that route.

Great Idea I'd be happy to pay if it meant no chips and the paintwork maintained it's shine, we could probably organise some sort of group buy, do you want to contact them mate?

If we go ahead with this we should probably start a Group buy thread for WA guys to guage interest.

Dropped my brand new GTI at OziCozi in Sydney at lunch time for the full Ventureshield kit plus G Techniq treatment and it will come in at under $1k. I'm glad I don't live in WA.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

I thought I'd point out that "full kit" often means different things at different places. For example, "full kit" from OziCozi (now called Surfacetech) means only "half" the bonnet and does not actually protect all "forward facing edges" (A pillars, leading edge of roof, etc). So it is actually comparable to what many other places call the "standard kit".

OziCozi will wrap whatever you ask them too though.... all the way up to the entire car (several thousand worth though!).

Yes - about $4K to do the car with them and you have to leave it with them for 4 days.

In the week leading up to me finally picking up my R from the dealer (given that everything is on time), I want to get the Ventureshield installed for my new baby.

I did a bit of research and I found Ozishield in Ringwood and Invisible Car Bras somewhere in Melb. I have no idea whether they're good or not. And it seems like Ozishield only has kits which protects the leading edge of the bonnet but not the entire panel?

Does anyone know a good installer in Melbourne that can install it for the entire bonnet (not just the leading edge) along with the usual bumper, side mirrors etc? And does anyone know roughly how much this costs?

Also, does anyone know whether pressure washers can be used to spray areas where Ventureshield has been applied?

I suggest just calling different places and talking to them. It's nigh on impossible to put every available option for all the cars. It comes down to the max width of the roll they have - so some cars may be able to have the full bonnet, others not.

On my car, the Ventureshield wraps around the edges of the bonnet so it'd have no issues with high pressure water there, but to be honest, I'm not sure about other panels, simply because no all panels are "removable" or movable for them to wrap the shield around... as the question to the guys (I didn't cause i don't have access to electricity where I wash my car).

I'm almost certain my installer said to stay clear of high pressure hoses in case it lifts the film on the edges.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but I had my Trakkadu (T5) camper done 4 years ago (James @ Invisible car bras IIR correctly). Full front plus other leading edges and rear bumper (step) protection was $1100, but it's a big bus. He had the special double width film to do the full bonnet. I've been very happy with it. No stone chips (except 1 on windscreen; wouldn't you know) after lots of off-road/ gravel work, often in convoy, and including Melb - Cape Yorke and back. If I ever replace the van, I'll get the sides done as well, for those narrow scratchy bush tracks.

I've also used a pressure washer over most of that period. I'm just careful not to apply full pressure on the edges.

Turns out the lines I had on my bonnet were a roll defect. No problems whatsoever, Tony at Perth Graphics Centre looked at it and replaced the Ventureshield on the bonnet the next day at no cost. Absolutely perfect nick now!!
