I had it on for two years and it was fine. The finish still isn't as nice as paint and the film may have has some fine lines in it. I gues you notice it more on a bit sheet ie bonnet. As I said it stains very quick, but would have otherwise been fine if you got it off the paint in the same time.

Put it this way, it's first uses were to protect the helicopter blades in desert warfare situations in the middle east.. I'm pretty sure the blades of a helicopter getting sandblasted in the desert are going to exceed the heat of a bonnet in Australia.

Having finally taken delivery of my CSG 3dr GTI last Friday, I took it into SurfaceTech (née Ozicozi) in Artarmon (Syd) to get Ventureshield film applied to front bumper, front half of bonnet, head/foglights, front section of front guards, top of rear bumper, backs of mirrors, rear edges of doors, and behind door handles. Early days, but very happy with the result! The edges of the film on the bonnet and guards are visible on close inspection, but generally dark metallic paint camouflages it well.

Also had G|Techniq C1 applied to paintwork and film as part of the deal. On the way back home, I used the windscreen washers as there were some watermarks on the screen and I wad driving into the sun...and of course, with the xenons permanently on as DRLs, that just had to be the one-time-in-five that the headlight washers activated! Instant foam-storm on freshly protected bonnet (aaargh!!!). Drove into nearest servo, poured water all over bonnet, and the water (and foam) shedding was remarkable!

Not the way I wanted to test it, but at least I know it works brilliantly!

Congrats on the new car! I'm sure you are enjoying it!

Good news on the film and C1 then I will be getting the same done when my car arrives in the next couple of weeks.

Are the rear edges of the door visible? My installer recommended this but I'm not sure.....

Also did they put C1 on top of the film?

                Cheers,

                  Emu,
The door edges are visible close up, but again the carbon steel grey hides it well. The film only extends about 10mm from the door edge. To put it in perspective, it's certainly far less visible than any other form of door edge protection.

BTW, I had originally planned to do the door sills as well (disappointed that moulded sill protection isn't standard) but realized that most of the wear will occur on the plastic strip at the edge of the carpet: being the highest point it is most likely to suffer shoe scrapes. So I didn't bother with film on the painted areas of the sills. Then again, it was only an extra $40 so maybe I should have!

Yes, the C1 was applied after (and on) the film, so as to provide a car surface with uniform water and dirt repelling properties.

                  Andrew

Interesting product, I hate panel beaters so anything that prevented a visit to one is a good thing. I know every one of my cars has ended up with a front that looked like it was sandblasted from regular twisty runs with others I had to replace the windscreen on my S15 due to pitting all over it and respray most of the front as I couldn't even run a sponge across the front bar after 25,000km's without it getting caught on a divot hehe!

I'd put it in the too hard basket of fitting myself but would like to see how inconspicuous it looked once installed.

                          Hi all,

Am seriously considering this for when the Golf R finally arrives. Does anybody know of a Canberra based installer?

Otherwise, if a trip to Syd is in order - how long for it to get installed considering the prep they have to do?

One last one - I noticed that some people saying that the product is more visible on white cars? Am very interesting in hearing from any white vw owners who had this applied. Does it stand out like the proverbial dogs balls?

Gonad i have a white GTi and got ventureshield installed from ozicozi in sydney.

got the full bumper plus door cusps and sills and top of rear bumper as well as side mirrors done.

took abt 5-6 hours to complete. it isnt obvious imo and the finish looks good.

dont have time to post pics now but i did post a few under the best number plates styles thread.

Hi Gonad, I've been looking for an ACT installer but there doesn't appear to be one. Perhaps if we found enough customers here we could convince an installer to come down and do all of us at once, or we could organise a convoy up to Sydney.

Do you mind giving an idea of what it cost you to get it all done.
