Ok, here goes!
1. Press SETUP.
2. On the touchscreen, press MEDIA.
3. On the left, you'll see AUX Input Level. Pressing the text next to it will reveal 3 options;
Level 1 (1.5v)
Level 2 (0.7v)
Level 3 (0.3v)
With my iPhone, Level 1 gives the best quality as coreying has explained in an earlier post
Peace Out!

My MDI was fine for 3 months, then started only playing my ipod via RHS speakers, changed to my ipod touch was fine, now doesn't recognise any of them!!!
WHat a waste of money not only for the MDI plus the additional cost of the IPOD lead! Going to phone a dealer next week!

It's a waste of money cause you're the first person ever to report that issue? I'm not sure I follow your logic there
I'd say it's possibly that just the Ipod cable has a break in it etc. But let us know how it goes after you've spoken to your dealer

Have my MDI hooked up to an 8GB thumb drive, works a treat. No problems what so ever apart from being slow too boot sometimes, people just need to use something aside from their despicable apple products.

Similar issues but my ipod just wasnt be detected as a media input, then I tried my usb...that worked for a couple weeks, now neither work.
My car goes in next Tues to get this looked at and also my drivers side mirror fixed.

Hey Guys,
quick question regarding the MDI. So dealer fitted MDI is int he glovebox and the factory fitted is in the console yeah?
So at the time of ordering the GTI do you get a choice of whether you want dealer or factory fitted? Also what are the differences - is it just price?2011 MKVI Volkswagen Golf GTI , APR Stage 1

As far as i am aware, if you want factory fitted (in the center console) it will have to be ordered and built in the factory.Originally posted by sek View PostHey Guys,

With dealer fitted they dont build it into the centre console (they build it at the dealership).
Factory fitted is $250 and dealer fitted is $500
I am getting mine dealer fitted and i dont want anything build into the centre console.
Does anyone have the dealer fitted MDI and if you do how much space does it take up and can you use a cord so the iphone can rest on the dash and not be left in the glovebox?MK7.5 R|Lapiz Blue|DAP|Sunroof|Tint

Just to clarify, the factory MDI is actually $270. You also need to factor in the 'pig tail cable' if you have an iCrud, as the standard option in Australia is the USB pig tail.
You can see a video of the factory installed MDI here in Episode 10 of Ask A VW Sales Guy

The price shouldn't be any different, in fact dealer fitted can be cheaper.Originally posted by kennyc View PostAs far as i am aware, if you want factory fitted (in the center console) it will have to be ordered and built in the factory.

I'm not sure how you can get the cable to be on the dash without the glovebox being open...MY14.5 VW Polo 81tsi Comfortline - Candy White - Comfort Pack
