  • This thread is definitely an eye opener, I thought I might be changing to a more discreet option in the mk6 GTI a little early in life at 28... but clearly not!

As per most I would fall under the "professional" umbrella. Changing to the GTI from an EVO VIII and can't wait to blend into traffic again Taking delivery next week I hope.

      • Blending into traffic . . . lol . . . think you must be kidding. Fraid the GTI's stick out like the . . . well you know.

My work mates know that I'm buying a GTI and they now report seeing lots of them. Or at least report they are so easily recognised. They hate me for it.

          • But that's the thing.... average people don't even give a second look at a GTI (unless it's red) unless you point it out to them... only THEN do they stand out!

I know what you're talking about. I'm currently in an XR6-T and I can't even goto the milkbar without some retard wanting to line me up. Usually its stupid commodore SS drivers....

Its a subjective thing for sure... The scowls you get in a big wing, knee chopping front bar canard wearing EVO are an experience. You could be cruising along at 10 below the limit but are you most definitely a "hoon" in the eyes of Joe Public regardless.

Most important thing for me is that I won't sacrifice all the fun and performance of the EVO in the GTI and I'll feel 100 times more comfortable day to day.

just got the 5dr version of the Golf GTI last weekend... will be a great practical car to be able to fit the family in, while allowing a bit of fun...

coming off from R33 Skyline 2 dr coupe turbo, and V35 Skyline 2 dr coupe (350Z equivalent) over the past 7 years

                        • 32yo in Perth, just ordered a Golf R with a bunch of options and partner purchased a polo, both cars were purchased from Dermot who I would highly recomend, so far at least

Current list of cars/bike includes a honda euro luxury, gsx-r 600 k9 and a 636rwhp JZA80 supra, all will be gone by the time my R arrives which is hopefully this year but most likely Feb of 2011, waiting 8-9 months for a car sucks.
