I assumed as much, but my comment still stands. In Australia, poor written and spoken English is a major problem not only for migrants, but for so-called native speakers. You'll get much further in life in Australia with a solid grasp of English, even assuming your future potential employer is unprejudiced.

And although I must admit I'm a little jealous of your new toy, I question the wisdom of your parents providing such an expensive and powerful car to somebody so young. Road experience can only be learnt, and until you have more experience, learning is best done in a car that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. Very difficult to get into trouble in something like that. Furthermore, until you truly know the value of hard work hard, you can't fully appreciate your possessions if they are handed to you on a silver platter. Learnt early, these lessons will stay with you for life.

    End statement.

    • thanks murphy, im fully support on what you said...im trying hard to improve my english and thats my reason to come to this wonderful country which full of nice and helpful people to take up my tertiary education...as u mentioned that i couldn't manage this powerful car, im driving a e60 in my own country for 3 years...im a responsible driver and not that type of ricer...im truly appreciate everything in my life...Sometimes i will help my parents to sort out some paperworks in their business...

hopefully that fulfill my answer to your question...maybe we could meet up once i get my mk6 gti...hopefully u could bring me around the city and show me where is the best place to cruise around...

Half his luck I say - I wish my parents could have done the same for me when I was young.. and as for your English language comments ... well, I'll just leave those for now..

Back on topic - bought my first golf (103tdi) at 44 years of age

        Great little car - delighted.

I agree with you but a bit harsh on your part I think. Let me put it this way - are you multilingual? If you are not, you wouldn't understand that it is not easy to pick up a second language once you are an adult.

          Peace!

No, I'm not multilingual, I can barely handle one language. As for harsh... perhaps.... but time and time again I see very poor attempts at written English on forums and blogs, making it very difficult for other members to understand. Adrian drew the short end of the stick, I fear. However, if you read my post, I do not single out non-native speakers.

The main point of my "condescending" post was questioning the wisdom of parents giving such expensive gifts to adult children. Since Adrian responded to my needling in such a friendly manner instead of attacking the temerity of my comments, this goes some way to proving his parents must be doing a pretty good job on other fronts.

Very true, here in Vic you need to be on a full license to drive a turbo powered car... not sure about the laws in WA...

LOL. I hadn't checked this thread yet and was going to ask if the question was asking for mental or actual age? I'm sure someone else has already said that but wasn't going to read 6 pages to find out!

Was getting close to turning 30 so figured I'd buy myself a new car. Nothing new though, I've used a birthday to justify buying a new car once or twice before hehe

I went to the closest dealer and didn't negotiate much because I was interested in speed of delivery and convenience. I can't recommend them over another dealer from that point of view. Also, my dealer is not known for their negotiating power. I'd suggesting going to VW Osborne Park since they are relatively close to you and see what kind of deal you can get. Dermot is a member of these forums and a dealer at VW Wangara - he has mentioned he will deal.

                            Best of luck.
